Authorities arrest 10 on drug-related charges

Local authorities arrested 10 people on drug-related charges from Friday through Sunday, including a man charged with a paraphernalia count and resisting an officer.
Morgan City Police Chief James F. Blair report these arrests:
—Jeffery Gross, 38, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:51 a.m. Sunday on charges of resisting an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia and on warrants for possession of drug paraphernalia, resident an officer, possession of marijuana, possession of a legend drug and violation of the Uniform Controlled Dangerous Substance law (drug-free zone).
Officers located Gross driving a vehicle near his residence. Officers attempted to place him under arrest and while doing so he became combative with officers. 
Gross was placed under arrest and officers located suspected drug paraphernalia. The warrants stemmed from a complaint Oct. 1. Gross was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Eric Anderson, 38, Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:20 p.m. Friday as a fugitive from St. Landry Parish.
Anderson was located and arrested on a warrant from Opelousas Police Department. Anderson was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Scott Ledet, 53, Diane Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:09 a.m. Saturday on warrants for failure to appear for a disturbing the peace charge and theft.
Ledet was stopped for speeding on U.S. 90. Officers identified the driver as Ledet and learned that he had several outstanding warrants from the Morgan City Police Department along with warrants from the 16th Judicial District Court.
Ledet was transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.  
—Leroy Davis III, 29, First Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:16 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for driving under suspension.
Officers located Davis and placed him under arrest on a warrant for driving under suspension.  Davis was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
—Shade Suire, 28, Chestnut Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:24 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace.
Officers were called to a disturbance. They found Suire being held down in the front yard. After speaking with witnesses, they learned that Suire attempted to attack another person at the residence and had to be restrained. 
Suire was placed under arrest and transported to the Morgan City Police Department for booking.
St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith reported these arrests:
 —Loren Anthony Wells Sr., 45, Franklin, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Friday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wells was released on a $1,750 bond.
 —Till Kirk Bernard, 40, New Iberia, was arrested at 3:31 p.m. Friday on charges of careless operation and driving under suspension. Bernard was released on a summons to appear March 30.
 —Lionel Johnson III, 34, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:01 p.m. Saturday on a charge of hit and run. Johnson was released on a summons March 30.
—Jarmarlon Jakell Smith, 24, Franklin, was arrested at at 7:32 p.m. Sunday on charges of failure to signal turn and possession of marijuana. Smith was released on a summons to appear on March 30, 2021.
—Michael Dean McIntyre II, 40, Franklin, was arrested at 2:09 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving on roadway laned for traffic, possession of heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17.
McIntyre was released on a $13,750 bond.
—Jamie Marie Estis Boudreaux, 58, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:14 p.m. Sunday on charges of driving on roadway laned for traffic and driving under suspension. Boudreaux was released on a summons to appear March 30.
—John Charles Acoste III, 36, Franklin, was arrested at 6:46 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charge of no seat belt and operating a vehicle while license was suspended/revoked/canceled. No bail has been set.
—Melvin Ray Hunter, 48, Baldwin, was arrested at 2:17 a.m. Monday on charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, careless operation and driver must be licensed.  No bail has been set.
 —Davien Charles Burrell, 20, Franklin, was arrested at 7:12 p.m. Friday on charges of failure to signal turn, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Burrell was released on a summons to appear on March 30, 2021.
—Jamal Mikael Gibson, 33, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:26 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for failure to appear on the charges of direct contempt, general speed law and failing to honor a written promise to appear. Gibson was released on a $365 bond.
—Louis Charles, 56, Baldwin, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Friday by the Narcotics Section on charges of simple obstruction of a highway of commerce and possession of synthetic cannabinoids with the intent to distribute. Charles was released on a $4,500 bond.
—Emmanuel Charles, 33, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:19 a.m. Saturday by the K9 Section on charges of failure to signal turn and possession of MDMA. Charles was released on a $2,000 bond.
St. Martin Parish Sheriff Becket Breaux reported these arrests:
—Jose Armenta, 35, Deviller Street, Henderson, was arrested Sunday by the Henderson Police Department on charges of manufacture, distribution or possession with intent to distribute Schedule II and Schedule III narcotics and possession of marijuana.
—Tananna Baldwin, 42, Monnot Street, Jeanerette, was arrested Sunday on warrants for failure to appear.
Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
—-Whitney Bielkiewicz, 30, Medine Road, White Castle, was arrested Friday on a charge of distribution of marijuana.
As part of an ongoing parishwide illegal narcotics investigation called Take a Ride, agents determined that Bielkiewicz was trafficking in illegal narcotics in the Assumption Parish area.
Agents obtained probable cause to secure arrest warrants for Bielkiewicz.
On Nov. 17, Bielkiewicz was arrested on the Assumption warrants in conjunction with her arrest by Iberville Parish agents on narcotics related charges in that parish.
On Friday afternoon, Bielkiewicz was transported and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
—Rene Starks Sr., 51, Arcement Street, Napoleonville, was arrested Saturday on charges of distribution of marijuana and crack cocaine.
As part of the Take a Ride investigation, agents determined that Starks was trafficking in illegal narcotics in the Assumption Parish area.
As a result of this investigation, agents developed sufficient probable cause to secure arrest warrants for Starks.
On Saturday afternoon, deputies went to Arcement address to locate and arrest Starks. During that process, Starks attempted to flee but was quickly apprehended.
Starks was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
Chitimacha Police Chief Hal Hutchinson reported this arrest:
—Blake Dinger, 27, Neptune Street, Morgan City, was arrested Sunday on a charge of remaining or entry after being forbidden and released on a summons. 
Officers responded to a tribal business in reference to a subject refusing to leave the establishment.  During the investigation, it was learned Dinger was involved and was arrested.
