Arrests reported on hit-and-run, theft, drug charges

Morgan City police reported arrests on hit-and-run and theft charges Thursday. St. Mary deputies made an arrest on marijuana and gun charges.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 53 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Sanh Vinh Do, 52, Leola Street, Amelia, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Thursday on a charge of theft (under $1,000).

--Brodney T. Williams, 33, Belanger Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:59 p.m. Thursday on charges of hit-and-run driving, driving under suspension and disregard of traffic controls.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 33 complaints and made this arrest:

--Jaquan Verrett, 24, Franklin, was arrested at 1:32 p.m. Thursday by the Narcotics Section on charges of careless operation of a motor vehicle, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, transactions involving drug proceeds and violation of protective orders.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Franklin

Interim Chief Tina Thibodeaux >/b>reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to seven complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Kai Reed, 41, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 5:58 p.m. Thursday on a warrant dated March 30 alleging unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, and theft. Redd was additionally arrested on a 16th Judicial District Court warrant alleging simple battery. Reed was booked, processed and released on a $6,000 bond.

--Keenze Howard, 57, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested, at 8:06 p.m. Thursday on a charge of driving under suspension. Howard was booked, processed and held on a $1,000 bond.
