Amelia man booked on drug, gun charges

Local agencies reported four arrests on drug or paraphernalia charges, including an Amelia man also accused of a weapon violation.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 102 complaints and made these arrests:

--Christopher Joseph Adams, 42, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:02 p.m. Friday on charges of criminal trespass, resisting a police officer with force and criminal damage to property.

Adams was released on a $2,000 bond.

--Lantrell Jamal Ayers, 32, Morgan City, was arrested on at 1:51 p.m. Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of theft, resisting arrest or officer, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of Schedule IV drugs and parole violation.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Mario Calderon-Perez, 29, Amelia, was arrested at 11:22 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Kristen Michelle Romero, 36, New Iberia, was arrested at 2:24 a.m. Sunday on two counts of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of persons under 17, and on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of driving under suspension, careless operation with accident, and entry on or remaining in places after being forbidden.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Juvenile male, 17, Franklin, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Saturday on a charge of second-degree battery. The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

--Juvenile male, 16, Franklin, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Saturday on a charge of second-degree battery. The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

--Juvenile male, 16, St. Landry, was arrested at 11:18 a.m. Sunday on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and curfew violation (juvenile). The juvenile male was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

--Clint Matthew Bishop, 52, Jeanerette, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities. Bishop was released on a $1,000 bond.

Morgan City

Police Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 50 calls for service and made these arrests:

--Joyce Washington, 61, La. 182 Morgan City, was arrested at 12:14 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Marco Hernandez, 25, Levee Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:34 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging indecent behavior with a juvenile.

--Jordi C. Boudreaux, 30, Prairie Road Circle, Centerville, was arrested at 11:08 p.m. Monday as a fugitive from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office and on charges of expired license plate and driving
under suspension.

--Lawrence A. Garrett, 26, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:08 pm. Monday as a fugitive from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office and on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

Berwick

Police Chief David S. Leonard reported this arrest:

--Adam Woods III, 19, Octavia Street, Schriever, was arrested at 7 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (under 14 grams), possession of drug paraphernalia and speeding 78 mph in a 60 mph zone.

About 6:22 p.m. Monday a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for speeding 78 in a 60 mph zone. Officers met with Woods and while speaking with him an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle.

A search was conducted at which time marijuana and items of drug paraphernalia were located inside. Woods was placed under arrest.

Woods was released on a summons to appear in court.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Jasson Anthony Hebert, 49, Lydia Court, Pierre Part, was arrested Sunday on a Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries warrant alleging possession of or dealing in firearms with obliterated serial numbers and entering or remaining after being forbidden.

In the early morning hours of Jan. 1, agents with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department, acting on a complaint, stopped Hebert for wildlife-related violations. As a result of that stop, agents issued several violation tickets to Hebert.

On Jan. 5, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office received a felony warrant from Wildlife and Fisheries for the arrest of Hebert.

Late Sunday evening, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested Hebert and booked him into the Assumption Parish Detention Center d pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Interim Police Tina Thibodeaux reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to four complaints over the past 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Cody Foco, 28, Pellerin Street, Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:17p.m. Monday on a warrant dated Jan. 4 alleging theft. Foco was booked, processed and held on a $1,500 bond.

--Troydrick Johnlouis, 27, Tarleton Road, Jeanerette, was arrested at 2:21 a.m. Tuesday, on the charge of possession of marijuana. Johnlouis was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
