AGU Labor Day Show and Sale begins at festival time

Artists Guild Unlimited Inc. in Morgan City is preparing for AGU’s 60th Art Show and Sale over the Labor Day weekend.
The competition will begin with a Patrons’ Purchase Award / Donors’ Merit Award Reception 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 27, for patrons and donors to view and, if they wish, to buy art prior to public viewing.
The gallery will open to the public 1-4 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 28. Gallery hours will be 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Regular gallery hours will resume Wednesday, Sept. 4.
Everett Street Gallery is open 1-4 p.m. Wednesday-Friday and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturdays.
The show closes Saturday, Sept. 21.
In the Downtown Historic District, AGU is housed in Everett Street Gallery, 201 Everett St., Morgan City. It is at. Mary Parish nonprofit arts association with the mission promoting the humanities in order to enrich the lives of all area residents.
It is the premier arts organization in St. Mary Parish, offering the community a gallery, events, classes and workshops in the arts. Everett Street Gallery is a cultural center honoring artists and creativity. AGU offers scholarships to St. Mary Parish high school seniors who will major in art in college.
Anyone interested in entering art as a member or nonmember may obtain registration forms at the Louisiana Shrimp & Petroleum Festival office at the corner of Second and Greenwood streets; The Frame Shop, Front Street; and Everett Street Gallery, across from City Hall and the U.S. Post Office.
