Agencies report three arrests on drug charges

Three arrests on drug charges were reported by police agencies in the region, including one involving possession of methamphetamine and marijuana in the presence of a child.
Morgan City
Police Chief James F. Blair reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 44 calls for service within the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests beginning Tuesday:
—Abbey Leigh Aucoin, 24, Cottonwood Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and child endangerment law.
Officers responded to the area of Cottonwood Street with the Louisiana Department of Child Services in regards to a welfare check.
Aucoin was identified. Suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia were located. A search warrant was obtained and officers further located more suspected drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
A small child was at the residence at the time of the offense. Aucoin was arrested and booked into the Morgan City Jail.
—Draven Bryan, 19, River Road, Berwick, was arrested at 10:13 a.m. Tuesday on warrants alleging disturbing the peace (fighting) and criminal damage to property.
St. Mary
Sheriff Blaise Smith advised that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 32 complaints made these arrests:
—Juvenile male, 16, Patterson, was arrested at 4 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of ATV/Off-road vehicles on public roadways prohibited. The juvenile was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.
—Shanay D. Griffin, 30, Patterson, was arrested at 3:23 a.m. Wednesday on charges of speeding and driving under suspension.
Griffin was released on a summons to appear Nov. 2.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
—Desma Dantrell Greene, 35, Virginia Street, Paincourtville, was arrested on charges possession of oxycodone, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer and driving under suspension, and on these charges resulting from an earlier incident: possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and aggravated assault with a firearm.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle turning off of La. 70 East and recognized the driver as Greene. The deputy was aware of an outstanding warrant for Greene in connection with a prior incident.
Those charges arise out of a prior disagreement over money with another individual.
The deputy ordered Greene out of the vehicle and advised him of the outstanding warrant. The suspect locked himself inside the vehicle.
Greene eventually opened the door and was taken into custody.
During a search of Greene’s vehicle, a quantity of oxycodone was seized.
Greene was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center.
St. Martin
Sheriff Becket Breaux reported this arrest:
—Cortland Lard, 18, Rockford, Tennessee, was arrested Tuesday on charges of transactions involving drug proceeds; manufacture, distribution, or possession with intent to distribute marijuana; illegal possession of stolen firearms; possession of a firearm while committing or attempting a crime; possession of drug paraphernalia; and possessing, dealing, illegally transferring or possessing a firearm with an obliterated number or mark.
