Acadiana Writers Guild seeks local works

The Writers Guild of Acadiana invites Louisiana writers to submit original work for inclusion in Volume 3 of “A Treasury of Louisiana Writers.” The deadline is Sept. 1.
This anthology will feature a diverse collection of short stories, creative nonfiction, plays, and poetry, published in both print and e-book formats.
Submissions must be original short stories, creative non-fiction, poems, or plays.
•The guild publication committee will review all entries and make the selections.
•Submissions must be fully edited at the time of submission.
•Previously published works are prohibited.
•Content must be appropriate for a general audience (PG or younger). No extreme graphic language or adult scenes will be accepted.
• Submissions must be typed in a Word document and follow the Chicago Manual of Style. Use 12-point Times New Roman font. Maximum limit is 7,500 words.
• Publication trim size: 7 × 10 inches (page size: 6.69 × 9.61 inches).
•Each applicant may submit up to two entries (same or different types). A separate application form is required for each entry.
•If a submission is not accepted, the author is encouraged to submit Another piece of writing.
• Contributors retain the individual copyrights to their work. The Writers Guild of Acadiana will hold the copyright to the published anthology.
• A $25 base fee is required for each accepted submission. This fee includes a hardback copy of the book. Short stories, creative nonfiction, poetry, and plays are charged 2 cents per word (maximum fee: $150 for 7,500 words).

WGA meets on the last Tuesday of each month (except December) at South Regional Library, 6101 Johnston St., Lafayette. The public is invited to attend. Guild annual membership is $25.
