149 receive diplomas at Morgan City High commencement
Friday night was graduation night for 149 Morgan City High seniors.
The students chose sage and champagne as their class colors, Dr. Dog's "Where Did All the Time Go" as the class song, and the stargazer lily as the class flower.
Another Lily was at the speaker's lectern: Lily Viator, who shared top student honors with Duc Bui. They were among 17 seniors who graduated with grade point averages of at least 4.0.
"Morgan City has given us an opportunity like no other," Viator said in her share of the graduation address.
Bui asked his classmates to remember teachers and parents, "the people who worried about us before we knew how to worry about ourselves. ...
"I cannot wait to see the lives you build and the people you will become."
The class motto is a quote from Principal Lacie Quintanilla: "And as always, choose kindness."
