Seven new COVID cases, no deaths in three local parishes

Seven new COVID-19 cases, including six in Assumption, were reported Wednesday in three local parishes by the Louisiana Office of Public Health.

Assumption's case count since the pandemic began rose to 788. The seventh case was reported in St. Mary, where the case count is now 2,001.

St. Martin's case count remains at 2,183.

The death tolls remain the same: 84 in St. Mary, 63 in St. Mary and 24 in Assumption.

Statewide:

--744 new cases make the pandemic case count 177,399.

--12 newly reported deaths raise to the statewide toll to 5,584.

--An additional 22 COVID-positive people are hospitalized for a total of 608.

--6 more people are on ventilators for a total of 68.
