Four St. Mary COVID deaths reported since Wednesday

Four more COVID-19 deaths among St. Mary residents were reported between midday Wednesday and midday Friday, according to the Louisiana Office of Public Health.

The number of new cases each day continues to decline. The total for Wednesday-Friday was 45, raising the pandemic total to 7,910.

But the number of St. Mary deaths during the pandemic reached 191, including 44 since the Delta variant was confirmed in Louisiana in early July.

Statewide, 2,625 new cases and 51 deaths were reported for the Thursday-Friday period. The number of COVID-positive people in Louisiana hospitals fell by 193 in Friday's one-day report to 2,254.
