96 confirmed COVID cases, two fatalities in three parishes

Another 96 confirmed COVID-19 cases, more than half in St. Martin, and two fatalities were reported in local parishes for the 48 hours ending at midday Sunday,

Statewide, COVID hospitalizations were down sharply.

St. Mary has 27 new COVID-19 cases for a confirmed pandemic total of 3,013 with 520 probable cases. A fatality listed as probably COVID-related was reported Sunday, raising the death toll to 97 confirmed and eight probable.

St. Martin has 51 new confirmed COVID cases for a pandemic total of 3,984 confirmed and 337 probable. A confirmed COVID-related fatality raised the death toll to 87 confirmed with eight probable.

Assumption has 18 new cases for a total of 1,279 confirmed cases and 350 probable. The death toll remains at 27 confirmed with two probable.

Statewide:

--4,122 new cases raise the confirmed pandemic total to 326,101 confirmed with 42,879 probable.

--123 new fatalities were reported for a pandemic toll of 7,742 confirmed with 461 probable.

--71 fewer COVID-positive people are in hospitals, lowering the total to 1,930.

--5 fewer people are on ventilators for a total of 237.
