16 new COVID-19 cases in three parishes

Sixteen new COVID-19 cases were reported at noon Monday for St. Mary, St. Martin and Assumption parishes. No new deaths were reported by the Louisiana Office of Public Health.

Three new cases were reported for St. Mary in the 24 hours ending at midday Monday. The parish has recorded 359 positives after about 4,300 tests. The death toll remains at 33.

St. Martin has eight new cases for a total of 351 with 27 deaths after about 4,700 tests.

Assumption has five new cases for a total of 274 and 14 deaths after about 2,700 tests.

Statewide:

--553 new cases make the state total 47,172 after more than half a million tests.

--5 new deaths raise the toll to 2,906.

--12 more people were hospitalized, raising the total to 568.

--The number of people on ventilators remains at 76.
