Times set for Morgan City High, Central Catholic volleyball quarterfinals
Morgan City will have two teams in the state volleyball quarterfinals Thursday in Lafayette.
Sixth-seeded Central Catholic overpowered No. 11 Central Private 3-0 Friday, 25-10, 25-10, 25-8 in a Division V regional in Morgan City.
Morgan City High, seeded ninth in Division III, pulled off the mild upset on the road in its regional, knocking off No. 8 St. Louis Catholic 3-1 by scores of 25-22, 25-11, 17-25, 25-21.
The third local team in action Friday, No. 10 Berwick, was eliminated at No. 7 Iowa 3-0 in a Division III Regional. The games went 25-19, 25-15, 25-23.
The fourth local squad, Patterson, was eliminated Wednesday in the Bi-District Round in Region IV.
