Three local teams open Monday in softball playoffs

All four Tri-City area softball teams qualified for the playoffs when brackets were released Friday.
Three of the teams will play first-round games Monday.
Berwick is the lone team that will play at home as the No. 14 Lady Panthers will host No. 19 Kenner Discovery Health Science in a 4 p.m. contest.
No. 25 Patterson will hit the road to face No. 8 South Beauregard at 6 p.m. in another Class 3A playoff contest.
In Class 4A, No. 23 Morgan City will travel to face No. 10 Belle Chasse at 4 p.m.
In Division IV, playoff action will start in the regional round, and Central Catholic will play at home Tuesday when it hosts No. 10 Sacred Heart at 5 p.m. in Amelia.

Berwick vs.
Kenner Discovery
The Berwick Lady Panthers enter the postseason with a 15-10 mark.
Berwick will be looking to bounce back from a 4-0 nondistrict loss to Assumption to end the regular season.
Meanwhile, Kenner Discovery Health Science finished its regular season with a 15-9 mark.
Kenner Discovery dropped its regular season finale to Thomas Jefferson, 18-4, in District 11-3A play.

S. Beauregard
vs. Patterson
The Patterson Lumberjills enter the postseason with a 6-14 record.
The Lumberjills won two straight to end the season with a 16-0 victory against Breaux Bridge in nondistrict action and a 2-1 victory against St. James in District 9-3A action.
Meanwhile, South Beauregard finished the regular season with an 18-14 mark.
The squad concluded the regular season by snapping a four-game losing streak with a 5-0 victory against Sulphur in nondistrict action.

Belle Chasse vs.
Morgan City
Morgan City enters the Class 4A postseason with a 5-16 mark.
The Lady Tigers will be trying to snap a three-game losing streak to end the regular season in Monday’s contest.
Meanwhile, Belle Chasse finished the regular season with a 10-12 mark.
The squad broke a three-game losing streak with an 8-7 victory against Fontainebleau in its regular-season finale.
Central Catholic vs. Sacred Heart
Central Catholic enters the postseason with a 21-7 overall record.
The squad won its last three games to end the season with victories against St. Louis Catholic, Vermilion Catholic and Highland Baptist.
Sacred Heart is 17-9 overall.
The squad won its last two games to end the season. Sacred Heart defeated Fairview 3-2 and was victorious against Loreauville, 11-10.
