They fought the law and the law won

On Saturday, the Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers Association held “Day in the Park” at Kemper Williams Park. They presented the Law Enforcement team with the plaque for winning the Battle of the Badges Horseshoe event recently. The battle was a friendly horseshoe match pitting firefighters against police officers and deputies. During the ceremony, Berwick Chief David Leonard, Assistant Chief J.P. Henry and Sheriff Blaise Smith were asked to raise the flag for the Pledge of Allegiance to open the day. Craig Rink of Bayou Horseshoe Pitchers presented the plaque to Leonard, Henry, Officer Carl Reed, retired Lt. Curtis Rebardi and Smith. The plaque will be shared among Berwick Police Department, the St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office and the Morgan City Police Department and will be displayed for the remainder of the year until next year's event.
