On Saturday morning, area residents gathered at Berwick High School’s Geisler Stadium for a Finish Eliza’s Run event in memory of Eliza Fletch, a Memphis, Tennessee, woman who was abducted during her early morning jog Sept. 2. Her body was found Sept. 5, and Cleotha Abston has been arrested. Finish Eliza’s Run is an online event noticed by Crystal Triche of Morgan City, who brought it to the attention of Kirstine Campbell of Patterson, who organized the local event to bring attention to the everyday dangers female athletes face.
