Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Trendon Demond Short, 37, LeDoux Street, Patterson, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

The charges resulted from an incident at an Amelia retail outlet early Wednesday morning.

Uniformed patrol deputies were dispatched to the Amelia business in connection to an individual allegedly brandishing a firearm toward another subject.

Deputies interviewed the suspect, the alleged victim and employees of the business. Deputies retrieved surveillance footage and were able to identify Short as the suspect in this incident.

Deputies concluded that Short and the victim engaged in a verbal exchange resulting from a prior disagreement. At some point, evidence indicated, that Short retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. Employees of the business intervened, and Short returned the firearm to his vehicle.

The firearm was collected by investigating deputies.

Short was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.
