Two arrested after standoff at Morgan City RV Park

Chemical agents were used after negotiation failed to get two people out of the camper trailer in which they barricaded themselves Friday morning at the Morgan City RV Park, police said.

Marvin Williamson, 63, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Friday on charges of resisting an officer with force or violence, aggravated assault on a police officer,
improper lighting, and failure to appear for arraignment (16th Judicial District Court).

--Valerie Williamson, 53, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:30 a.m. Friday on charges of battery on a police officer, resisting an officer with force or violence, and interfering with a law enforcement with a law enforcement investigation.

According to the Morgan City Police Department, an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the M.C. RV Park due to improper lighting.

According to reports, the officer made contact with a man operating the vehicle, who was very uncooperative. The officer began speaking with the subject who attempted enter a camper trailer. After an attempt to subdue the subject, a struggle ensued.

While the officer attempted to take the subject into custody, a woman exited the trailer. She obstructed the arrest, striking the officer, and the male subject armed himself with an object in an attempt to strike the officer, police said.

The subjects were able flee from the officer when they barricaded themselves into the trailer.

The trailer was surrounded when additional personnel responded to the incident. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office also responded.

During the investigation, the subjects were identified as Marvin and Valerie Williamson. Contact was established with the subjects by negotiators with the Morgan City Police Department and St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office in an attempt to bring a resolution to the situation.

The subjects refused to exit the trailer. After all negotiations failed, chemical agents were deployed. Moments later, the two subjects exited the trailer. They were taken into custody after a short struggle and the incident came to an end, police siad.

It was found that these were the only two subjects occupying the camper trailer. Marvin Williamson was found to hold an active arrest warrant through the 16th Judicial Court. The duo was transported to the Morgan City Jail, where they were booked and incarcerated, awaiting court proceedings.
