Three theft arrests in Morgan City; deputies arrest two on domestic abuse charges

Morgan City police reported three theft arrests over the weekend, while St. Mary deputies made three arrests on domestic abuse charges.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 185 calls for service over the last 120-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Frank Lovoi Jr., 39, North Service Road, Raceland, was arrested at 1:37 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft of a firearm.

--Stephanie M. Manjarrez, 30, La. 182, was arrested at 2:15 a.m. Monday on charges of access device fraud (under $1,000), theft (under $1,000) and resisting an officer.

--Quincy J. Johnson, 30, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:07 p.m. Saturday on charges of theft (under $1,000) and possession of synthetic marijuana.

--Kevin Gilton, 45, Johnson Lane, Thibodaux, was arrested at 5:05 p.m. Friday as a fugitive of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Joshua Dee Kiff, 31, Sixth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:25 a.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Na’tyia Ra’nae Henry, 21, North Marigny Circle, Duson, was arrested at 7:52 p.m. Thursday on a charge of unauthorized use of an access card.

--JC Ford Jr., 37, Friendship Alley, Amelia, was arrested at 10 a.m. April 10 on a charge of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

—Dontrelle Davontae Derousselle, 26, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:30 a.m. Friday on a charge of domestic abuse battery by strangulation. Bail has not been set at this time.

—Maudiel Andony Rames Caceres, 30, Patterson, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery by strangulation, second-degree battery and aggravated domestic abuse (child endangerment law). Bail has not been set at this time.

—Cameron Hugo Jackson, 24, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 9:09 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession with intent to distribute synthetic cannabinoids, violation of controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone), and turning movements and signals required.

Jackson was released on a $30,250 bond.

—Brett Michael Givens, 33, Patterson, was arrested at 2:55 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on the charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail was set at $723.

—Jason Joseph Olivier, 41, Patterson, was arrested at 8:48 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of methamphetamines, possession of drug paraphernalia, and improper lane usage. Bail has not been set at this time.

—Dametrus Deon Perro Sr., 37, Franklin, was arrested at 9:55 p.m. Sunday on two warrants alleging failure to appear and on a Chitimacha Tribal Police warrant. Bail has not been set on the St. Mary Parish warrants, and a hold has been placed on Perro for another agency.

—Henry Joseph Pierce, 45, Morgan City, was arrested at 3 a.m. Monday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family, and on a Chitimacha Tribal Police warrant. Bail was set on the St. Mary Parish warrants at $46,185 and a hold has been placed on Pierce for another agency.

—Tony J. Gibson, 59, Baldwin, was arrested at 8:52 a.m. Friday on a warrant alleging simple obstruction of highway. Gibson was released on his own recognizance.

—Leslie Soloman, 66, Gibson, was arrested at 12:06 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent distribute MDMA, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession of with intent to distribute Xanax, possession of or dealing in unregistered or illegally transferred weapons, possession with intent to distribute hydrocodone, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

—Lexi Lynn Martin, 25, Franklin, was arrested at 2:24 p.m. Thursday on a charge of simple battery. Martin was released on a $2,500 bond.

—Joshua Dee Kiff, 30, Patterson, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Thursday on an MCPD warrant alleging failure to appear. Kiff is being held for another agency.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Braxton Alcina, 25, Main Street, Patterson, was arrested Sunday on charges of off-road vehicle on public roadway and driving under suspension.

--James Kyle Jr., 54, Easy Street, Patterson, was arrested Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace and on a warrant alleging disturbing the peace.

--Cornelius J. Kelly Jr., 18, Cleveland Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. April 10 on a charge of possession of stolen things. Kelly was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Traylon A.M. Grogan, 32, First Street, Patterson, was arrested at 9:26 p.m. Thursday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (second offense). Grogan is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:

--Thomas Kavanaugh, 38, was arrested at 2:56 p.m. April 10 on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

On April 10, the Berwick Police Department received a call from a local business of a person on the property causing a disturbance. Officers responded and made contact with Kavanaugh.

While speaking with Kavanaugh, a strong odor of alcohol was detected coming from his breath and person. It was learned that another agency had just removed him from a different business in the area as well for causing a disturbance.

Kavanaugh was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the above charge.

--William New, 67, Berwick, was arrested at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on a charge of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and improper lane usage.

About 12:11 a.m. Saturday, an officer in the area of La. 182 observed a vehicle traveling east and crossing the fog line. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with New.

While speaking with New, impairment was detected. Field sobriety tests were conducted, and he performed poorly. He and was subsequently placed under arrest.

New was transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.

--Jean Gomez-Bautista, 20, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:16 a.m. Sunday on a Berwick warrant alleging identity theft.
In March 2024, the Berwick Police Department received a complaint of an identity theft in which the victim’s information was used at a business in Berwick.
An investigation was conducted, and evidence was gathered linking Gomez-Bautista to the crime. Warrants were issued for his arrest. Gomez-Bautista was located Sunday and placed under arrest and booked on warrant.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Brett M. Givens, 33, Emy Lane, Patterson, was arrested Saturday on a probation and parole warrant as well as a non-support warrant following a traffic stop on Saturday evening in Bayou L’Ourse.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle stopped in the main travel lane of La. 662. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Givens. The deputy conducted interview as well as a criminal warrant check. It was determined that Givens was a fugitive wanted by St. Mary Parish.

Givens was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and released to the custody of St. Mary Parish on Sunday.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 17 complaints over the weekend and made these arrests:

--Kuniko Robertson, 25, Hover Street, Destrahan, was arrested at noon Friday on a charge of speeding. Robertson was booked, processed and released on a $348 bond.

--Michael Ceaser, 44, Martin Luther King Street, Baldwin, was arrested at 9:24 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of driving under suspension and speeding. Ceaser was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.

--Jasmine Williams, 32, Martin Luther King Drive, Jeanerette, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Monday on a warrant for the New Orleans Police Department alleging theft and criminal damage to property. Williams was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
