Three arrested after gun seized at fight scene

Three people, including two Morgan City and Berwick, were arrested Saturday after a gun was confiscated at the scene of a fight in Bayou L'Ourse, the Assumption Sheriff's Office said.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--Erick Ryan Ballance, 22, Reserve Drive, Thibodaux, was arrested Saturday on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace.

--Hayleigh Nicole Martin, 22, North Everett Street, Morgan City, was arrested Saturday on charges of principal to aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace.

--Laiten Michelle Bertrand, 18, River Road, Berwick, was arrested Saturday on charges of principal to aggravated assault with a firearm and disturbing the peace.

The charges resulted from an incident early Saturday morning in Bayou L’Ourse.

Deputies were dispatched to a location in the 1000 block of La. 662 in reference to a large disturbance.

Deputies encountered numerous individuals involved in a fight and seized a firearm allegedly brandished during the incident.

Deputies identified Ballance as the person who possessed and displayed the firearm during the incident.

At the conclusion of the investigation, Ballance, Martin and Bertrand were arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center. Each was released on a $25,000 bond.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 51 complaints and made these arrests:

--Lacoryer Deshawn Nicholas, 38, Napoleonville, was arrested at 4:45 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of battery of a dating partner. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Shantell Marie Hotard, 38, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:06 p.m. Monday on a failure to appear warrant alleging possession of meth. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Tyjon Alexander, 23, Franklin, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 10:56 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging illegal possession of stolen firearms. Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 25 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Thi Tuyet Nhung Le, 46, Vivian Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:35 a.m. Monday on charges of disturbing the peace, aggravated flight from an officer and resisting an officer.

--Anthony K. Cargo, 35, Home Lane, Berwick, was arrested at midnight Monday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
