Theft, fighting, drug arrests reported by area police

Berwick police reported arrests on motor vehicle theft and methamphetamine possession charges over the weekend, while Morgan City police made arrests on fighting and drug possession charges.

Patterson officers booked a woman accused of driving 94 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:

--Juvenile male, 15, was arrested at 2:53 p.m. Friday on Berwick warrants alleging theft of a motor vehicle, simple criminal damage to property and theft under $1,000.

In July, the Berwick Police Department received a call of a vehicle that was stolen from a residence. The vehicle was recovered in Terrebonne Parish days later.

A juvenile and several others were identified as suspects in the theft, and evidence linking them to the crime was gathered. Warrants were issued for their arrest.

On Friday, the juvenile and his mother turned him in at the Berwick Police Department for the active warrants. During this time, it was learned that the juvenile also had another theft warrant from 2022. The juvenile was booked and released to his mother pending a court hearing.

--Christopher Taylor, 46, Berwick, was arrested at 3:23 p.m. Friday on a charge of disturbing the peace.

About 3:13 p.m. Friday, officers responded to a residence on Utah Street for a disturbance. It was reported that Taylor was throwing things and causing a disturbance.

Officers attempted to speak with Taylor, who was highly intoxicated and began causing more of a disturbance.

Taylor was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked.

--Charles Elmore, 47, Gibson was arrested at 3:56 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to register vehicle, switched license plate, no insurance, driving under suspension and window tint.

About 3:33 p.m. Saturday, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it was observed to have dark tinted windows. Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as Elmore.

While speaking with Elmore, it was learned that the license plate displayed on the vehicle did not belong. It was also learned that the vehicle was not properly registered and did not have insurance. A computer check revealed that Elmore’s driver’s license was suspended.

During the course of the traffic stop, a search of the vehicle was conducted. Methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia were located.. Elmore was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 130 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Evan David Reed, 30, Trevino Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Friday on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).

--Gerardo Garza, 30, Orange Ridge Lane, Humble, Texas, arrested at 10:17 p.m. Friday on charges of second-degree battery and disturbing the peace (fighting).

--Reandra Wenndresse Taylor, 35, Garber Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:36 a.m. Saturday on two counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Erling Zamora, 20, Patton Street, Morgan City, was arrested 12:49 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense), reckless operation of a motor vehicle and no driver’s license.

--Scarlett Marie Burkart, 42, Chestnut Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:10 a.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

--Jonathan Jamard Charles, 43, Everett Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Saturday on three counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Carlos Pintado, 44, Ja Elle Drive, Iowa, Louisiana, was arrested at 2:01 a.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and improper lighting.

--Kenneth Rollins, 33, Diane Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 12:21 a.m. Sunday on two counts of failure to appear for trial and two counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Gannon Troy Broussard, 33, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:40 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and three counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Sharina Nicole Danae Dixon, 18, Bowman Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:36 a.m. Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported this arrest:

--Trinity A. Thompson, 21, U.S. 90, Baldwin, was arrested at 12:10 a.m. Sunday on charges of speeding 94 mph in a 55 mph zone and reckless operation (no accident.) Thompson was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $691.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 10 complaints over the weekend and made these arrests:

--Lonny Baker Sr., 57, Morris Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:42 a.m. Sunday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of theft. Baker was booked, processed, and held on a $350 bond.

--Carlos Funes-Padilla, 20, Russel Street, Chalmette, was arrested at 9:31 a.m. Sunday on charges of speeding, reckless operation of a vehicle and no driver's license.
Funes-Padilla was booked, processed and released on a $690 bond.

--Tylan Lightfoot, 19, Robertson Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:05 p.m. Sunday on a warrant dated May 24 alleging two counts of attempted second-degree murder, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, illegal carrying of weapons and disturbing the peace by fighting. Lightfoot was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--Ashlee Miller, 42, of Pine St., Franklin, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for 3rdWard City Court alleging failure to appear on the charge of theft. Miller was additionally arrested on a charge of criminal trespassing. Miller was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
