Texas man accused of scheming to distribute child abuse porn here

A Texas man has been arrested and accused of being part of a “scheme to distribute child sexual abuse material for monetary gain while in the Morgan City area,” city police said.

Joseph M. Madison Jr., 22, Elmira Street, Beaumont, Texas, was booked at 12:23 p.m. Wednesday in Morgan City on charges of trafficking of children for sexual purposes, computer-aided solicitation of a minor, indecent behavior with juveniles and pornography involving juveniles.

In June, the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office and Morgan City police began an investigation after learning that adults were having inappropriate communications with a juvenile via social media.

Through the course of the investigation, Morgan City Police Department investigators were able to identify Madison as a suspect. Evidence indicated that Madison had multiple lewd conversations with the juvenile, Morgan City police said.

Evidence also indicated that Madison conspired and aided and abetted in the scheme to distribute child sexual abuse material here, police said.

Morgan City investigators were able to locate Madison in the Beaumont, Texas area. With the assistance of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Madison was taken into custody Aug. 29.

After extradition proceedings were complete, Madison was transported to the Morgan City Police Department and booked Wednesday.
