St. Mary Sheriff Gary Driskell recently was presented with checks to buy teddy bears to be carried in patrol vehicles for little children frightened and traumatized by situations that deputies handle. The money came from the East St. Mary Kiwanis; the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Assumption Catholic Church in Franklin; Marc and Crystal Felterman; John Mire; Bourque Diving Service; and Adriane Kramer. The money will purchase 450 bears, “which will stock our patrol units with teddy bears for quite a while,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post.
