Stolen property, theft arrests reported in Morgan City, Assumption

After making three theft arrests over the weekend, Morgan City police reported a stolen property arrest on Monday. Assumption deputies made an arrest Sunday on theft, fraud and forgery charges.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 39 calls for service and made these arrest:

--Johnny Deberry, 68, Mallard Street, Morgan City was arrested at 3:39 p.m. Monday on charges of disturbing the peace (drunkenness), resisting an officer and possession of marijuana.

--Rebecca L. Clark, 41, Jennie Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of amphetamine salts and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Mary Pool, 39, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a warrant alleging three counts of failure to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Randy G. Clark, 38, Frontage Road, Centerville, was arrested at 6:38 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of stolen things (under $1,000) and as a fugitive from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Marguelle Taylor, 28, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:47 p.m. Monday on two counts of child desertion and on a warrant alleging three counts of failure to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Christian Micheals Fielder, 25, North Curtis Street, Pierre Part, was booked Sunday on charges of felony theft, access device fraud, forgery and monetary instrument abuse.

The arrest resulted from an incident in December 2022.

Deputies responded to a complaint in which Fielder sought assistance from an individual he knew in cashing what Fielder purported to be a valid payroll check. The victim learned that the check in question was fraudulent.

Detectives initiated an investigation and determined that the check, valued at $4,000,was indeed fraudulent and that Fielder had received the $4,000 from the victim.

At the conclusion of the investigation, detectives secured arrest warrants charging Fielder on multiple felony counts.

Fielder was arrested on Sunday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Chitimacha

Chief B.C. Trahan reported these arrests:

--Byron J Toups, 40, Houma Drive, Jeanerette, was arrested March 25 on a Chitimacha police warrant alleging unlawful possession of drugs; unlawful possession, distribution, or sale of drugs; possession of a legend drug without a prescription; and distribution or intent to distribute in drug-free zone.

--Caroline A Butaud, 30, Chitimacha Loop Road, Jeanerette, was arrested Sunday on a Chitimacha police warrant alleging unlawful possession of drugs; unlawful possession, distribution, or sale of drugs; and distribution or intent to distribute drugs in drug-free zone.
