Shots fired report leads to arrest in Berwick

A report of shots fired at a Berwick hotel resulted in an arrest on drug and weapon charges.

Berwick

Chief David s. Leonard reported this arrest:

--Kelvin Moore, 28, Patterson, was arrested at 8:56 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession with intent to distribute THC, illegal use of weapons or dangerous instrumentalities, and illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.

On Thursday, officers from the Berwick Police Department, responded to reports of shots fired at the Suburban Studios Hotel.

Officers quickly secured the area and evacuated the first floor of the hotel out of an abundance of caution. A search of the premises was initiated to locate the source of the gunfire.

During the course of the investigation, officers made contact with an individual who was subsequently detained. Search warrants were later prepared to continue the investigation.

A search was conducted and investigators located a handgun and illegal narcotics in the room. Due to evidence recovered at the scene, Moore was taken into custody and booked on the related charges.

At this time, the motive or reasoning behind the gunfire remains undetermined. Moore was later booked into the Berwick Jail with bond set at $110,000.

Chief Leonard thanked the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office for assisting our agency.

No injuries were reported in the incident.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Alysha Carlton, 35, Mars Road, Morgan City, was arrested 12:16 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lighting.

--Donald Plessala, 51, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:44 p.m. Friday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

--Belinda Bourque, 51, Arenz Street, Morgan City, was at 8:54 p.m. Friday on charges of possession of clonazepam, possession of a legend drug (gabapentin), resisting an officer and disturbing the peace.

--Corey Tarver, 48, Maine Street, Patterson, was arrested at 11:11 p.m. Friday as a fugitive from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Carolyn Henry, 50, Chestnut Drive, Morgan City, was at 2:45 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Joshua Holbert, 36, Cecilia Street, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 10:27 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, driving while intoxicated (third), possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated obstruction of a highway, aggravated flight from an officer, speeding, driving under suspension and open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.

--James Tarleton, 31, Taft Street, Patterson, was arrested at 12:29 p.m. Thursday on two counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Dana E. Peters, 42, Houma, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Friday on a charge of failure to appear on acharge of non support. Bail was set at $1,715.

--Larry James Hatfield, 35, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:55 a.m. Saturday on charges of possession of firearm at an alcoholic beverage outlet, obstruction of justice (tampering) and violation of protective orders. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Kayla Marie Aucoin, 31, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Sunday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of no seatbelt and no child restraint. Bail was set at $360.

--Dane Dustin Parks, 49, Bacliff, Texas, was arrested at 4:58 p.m. Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Bail was set at $2,500.

--Seth Aurelius Kidder, 45, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:07 p.m. Sunday on a charge of simple assault. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Jamie Lynn Jett, 42, Patterson, was arrested at 7:15 p.m. Thursday on a charge of monetary instrument abuse. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Bryan Keith Sisk, 40, Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:13 p.m. Thursday on charges of resisting arrest or officer, disturbing the peace (violent or tumultuous manner), non-aggravated resisting a police officer with force, simple criminal damage to property, and resisting an officer/simple assault.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Darrell Riggins Jr., 36, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 12:58 a.m. Friday on charges of license plate lights required, no driver's license on person and violation of protective orders. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Timothy Gary Paul Francis, 38, Morgan City, was arrested 11:45 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear for non-support. Bail was set at $11,255.86.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Sadie R. Aucoin, 27, Cleveland Street, Patterson, was arrested at 4:53 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft by shoplifting. Aucoin was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $486.

--Kaleb D. Beeson, 21, Hampton Street, Houma, was arrested at 4:17 a.m. Sunday on charges of DWI (first offense) and speeding 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Beeson was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $3,250.

--Canyn Q. Dugas, 21, La. 14, New Iberia, was arrested at 10:03 pm. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana, no driver’s license and no taillights. Dugas was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $646.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Stacey Grubb, 44, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Friday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of control of air pollution from outdoor burning. Grubb was booked, processed and held on a $1,500 bond.

--Cory Pierce, 38, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 9:50 p.m. Friday on a charge of violation of protective order. Pierce was additionally arrested on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of Schedule II controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Pierce was booked, processed, and held on an $11,000 bond.

--August Gloskey, 65, Jekyl Lane, Franklin, was arrested at 7:35 p.m. Saturday on a charge of obscenity. Gloskey was booked, processed and held on a $5,000 bond.

--Tempestt Thomas, 34, Bayouview Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 8:54 p.m. Saturda on a charge of simple criminal damage to property. Thomas was booked, processed and held on a $2,000 bond.

--Cord Jones, 38, Thomas Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:28 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on charges of failure to yield to emergency vehicle and operating a vehicle while license is suspended. Jones was booked, processed and held on a $1,500 bond.

--Juvenile was arrested at 11:53 p.m. Sunday an ungovernable juvenile.

--Joshua Conner, 42, Eighth Street, Franklin, was arrested 1:47 a.m. Monday on charges of careless operation, driving under suspension, no insurance, and possession of alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle. Conner was additionally arrested on a warrant for 15th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on charges of following too closely and driving under suspension. Conner was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
