Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:
--Terry Joseph Sanchez Jr., 43, Cross La Rue Street, Belle River, was arrested Monday on charges of obstruction of justice, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
--Megan Marie Porter, 35, Cross La Rue Street, Belle River, was arrested Monday on misdemeanor and felony charges of simple criminal damage to property.
The arrests resulted from the investigation into a hit ad run Aug. 12 in Belle River.
Deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of Belle River. Deputies initiated an investigation and determined that a vehicle had run off of the highway, damaging two mobile homes. Through investigation, deputies were able to identify the suspect vehicle as being registered to Sanchez. Deputies further identified the driver of the vehicle involved in the crash as Porter. Deputies located the pickup truck, which had sustained damages consistent with damages at the scene of the crash. Deputies further determined that Sanchez had assisted Porter in removing the vehicle from the scene and failing to contact law enforcement.
On the day of the crash, Porter was cited for hit-and-run driving, driving on roadway laned for traffic, expired motor vehicle inspection tag, driving under suspension and no liability Insurance.
The investigation continued, resulting in warrants being issued for the arrest of Sanchez and Porter, who were arrested Monday.
Sanchez and Porter remain incarcerated at the Assumption Parish Law Enforcement Center pending bond hearings.
Damages to the two mobile homes is estimated at $15,200.
