Sheriff: K9 officer finds cocaine with value of $150,000
A deputy performed a traffic stop early Monday in Bayou Vista, and K9 Officer Buddy found what turned out to be cocaine worth $150,000 St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith said in a news release.
Floyd C. Acklin Jr., 59, of Fairland Drive in Houston, was arrested at 2:45 a.m. Monday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (cocaine) with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule II controlled dangerous substance (marijuana), possession of drug paraphernalia and proper display of license plate (fraud plate).
Deputy Chris Veillion made the stop after Acklin's vehicle crossed the fog line, the Sheriff's Office said. The cocaine weighed 4.4 pounds.
Acklin was jailed with no bail set.
