Sheriff: Driver pointed gun at other vehicle

A 55-year-old Eunice man was arrested in Bayou Vista after he pointed a gun at a vehicle on U.S. 90, St. Mary Parish Sheriff Blaise Smith said in a news release.

—Sandy J. Guillory, 55, of Acadia Street in Eunice, was arrested at 2:56 a.m. Sunday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm.

Deputies were dispatched to U.S. 90 west in Bayou Vista in reference to a driver of a vehicle pointing a gun at another vehicle. Upon arrival, deputies were able to locate the vehicle and conduct a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Guillory, the sheriff said.

Authorities located a .22-caliber revolver during the investigation, Smith said. Guillory was jailed with no bail set.

Smith reported that deputies responded to 110 complaints in the parish and reported the following arrests in east St. Mary Parish:

—Brylee D. Thibodeaux, 24, of Oleste Tauzin Road in Breaux Bridge, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Friday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, possession of oxycodone, possession of Adderall, possession of Clonazepam, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance, obstruction of justice, entering contraband into a penal facility and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Narcotics detectives were traveling down U.S. 90 in Patterson when they observed two cars driving side by side on the highway while a motorcycle passed between the cars on the center line at a high rate of speed.

When the detectives attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the motorcycle accelerated. The detectives subsequently made a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Thibodeaux. Through the investigation, detective found a handgun, Smith said.

Thibodeaux was booked into parish jail. While conducting a strip search, deputies found a canister with drugs, the sheriff said. Thibodeaux was booked on the additional charges and subsequently released on $10,000 bail.

—Joseph Jerome Jessie, 40, of Bernard Street in Patterson, was arrested at 1:44 p.m. Friday on a warrant for failure to appear for trial on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia first offense and failure to stop at a stop sign.

Jessie was located at the parish courthouse on the warrant. He was jailed with bail set at $1,500.

—Charlotte Bracamontes, 31, of Rayne Court in Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 7:03 p.m. Friday on a charge of battery on a police officer.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista made contact with Bracamontes and during the investigation, she kicked the deputy twice. Bracamontes was jailed with no bail set.

—Wayne Lasseigne, 68, of Southwest Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 11:25 p.m. Friday on charges of turning movements and signals and possession of marijuana.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle make a turn without giving a proper signal. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Lasseigne. When Lasseigne exited the vehicle, two marijuana cigarettes fell from his lap, Smith said. Lasseigne was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 26.

—Warren Alpha, 60, of Mill Road in Patterson, was arrested at 11:15 a.m. Saturday on charges of expired or no inspection sticker, driving under suspension and no record of insurance.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle traveling with an expired inspection sticker. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver, Alpha. During the stop, the deputy learned that Alpha’s license was suspended, and he did not have insurance on the vehicle, Smith said. Alpha was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 26.

—Cole Fruge, 27, of Saturn Road in Bayou Vista, was arrested at 2:46 p.m. Saturday on charges of misdemeanor theft and possession of gabapentin without a prescription.

A deputy patrolling Bayou Vista responded to a business in reference to a shoplifting complaint. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with business personnel who stated that Fruge had items in his possession for which he had not made payment, the sheriff said.

Authorities found drugs during the investigation, Smith said. Fruge was jailed with no bail set.

—Taylor Paige Cox, 21, of 4th Street in Berwick, was arrested at 7:31 p.m. Sunday on a warrant for failure to appear on a charge of possession of marijuana (14 grams or less).

—Keyshawn Andre Smith, 24, of Martin Luther King Avenue in Patterson, was arrested at 7:31 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and obstruction of justice.

A deputy was patrolling the area of Southeast Boulevard in Bayou Vista when he observed a vehicle with a license plate cover which was obstructing the registration tag. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with the driver and two passengers, identified as Cox and Smith.

The deputy received consent from the driver to search the vehicle and found marijuana, Smith said. During the investigation, the deputy was advised by dispatch of a warrant for Cox. Smith’s bail was set at $4,500. No bail was set for Cox.

—Amanda Rose Boutwell, 33, of North Verrett Street in Amelia, was arrested at 8:24 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.

A deputy observed a female in the Amelia area riding a bicycle without a functioning rear light. The deputy made contact with the female, identified as Boutwell. During the investigation, drug paraphernalia was found in Boutwell’s possession, Smith said. Boutwell was issued a summons to appear in court Sept. 26.

—Eddie D. Johnson, 41, of Magill Lane in Gibson, was arrested at 2:19 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of Schedule I drugs.

A deputy with the K9 Division was patrolling the area of Amelia when he assisted another deputy with a traffic stop. During the stop, K9 Buddy was deployed to conduct an open-air scan. K9 Buddy showed an odor response on the vehicle. During the investigation, drugs were found on Johnson, the sheriff said. Johnson was released on a summons to appear in court Sept. 26.

Morgan City Police Chief James Blair reported that officers responded to 144 calls and reported the following arrests:

—Archie Vinning Jr., 70, of Fig Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 3:20 p.m. Sunday on a warrant charging him with home improvement fraud.

Officers came into contact with Vinning on Fig Street. A warrant check confirmed police had a warrant for his arrest on a home improvement fraud charge. Detectives received a complaint May 6 in reference to Vining accepting $2,685 for a deposit for home repairs.

Detectives learned Vining had accepted $2,685 as a deposit for remodeling materials. Investigators learned Vining had accepted the money but never ordered the supplies to complete the remodeling job, Blair said. He was jailed.

—Alesha Vidos Desormeaux, 37, of Burchfield Lane in Berwick, was arrested at 8:45 a.m. Friday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court.

Officers came into contact with Desormeaux on 8th Street. A warrants check revealed 16th Judicial District Court held an active warrant for her arrest. She was jailed.

—Keondra Shanise Clark, 27, of Oak Street in Morgan City, was arrest at 9:20 p.m. Saturday on warrants charging her with five counts of failure to appear in court. Clark was located at the police department and arrested on city court warrants. He was jailed.

—Rudy Joseph Bazare Jr., 48, of Gail Drive in Patterson, was arrest at 10:48 p.m. Saturday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of marijuana first offense, possession of methamphetamine 2 grams to 28 grams, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal carrying of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of trazodone hydrochloride.

—Rae Ann Allemand, 36, of Railroad Avenue in Morgan City, was arrested at 11:09 p.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of marijuana first offense.

A patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on La. 182. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Bazare along with his passenger Allemand. During the traffic stop, Bazare was found in possession of suspected marijuana, methamphetamine, trazodone hydrochloride, drug paraphernalia and a firearm, Blair said.

Officers located suspected marijuana in Allemand’s possession during the traffic stop. Both Bazare and Allemand were jailed.

—Taylor Annette Murphy, 24, of Green Leaf Boulevard in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:07 a.m. Sunday on charges of improper lane usage, possession of methamphetamine less than 2 grams, possession of heroin and a warrant charging her with contempt of court.

—Gavin Paul Bellanger, 27, of Matherne Street in Lafitte, was arrested at 9:07 a.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

A patrol officer observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on U.S. 90 and Martin Luther King Boulevard. A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was identified as Murphy and her passenger as Bellanger. A warrant check revealed city court had a warrant for Murphy’s arrest.

During the investigation, Murphy was found in possession of suspected methamphetamine and heroin, Blair said. Bellanger was in possession of suspected marijuana, Blair said. Both Murphy and Bellanger were jailed.

—Claudia Hawkins, 34, of Melanie Lane in Gray, was arrested at11:06 a.m. Sunday on charges of theft less than $1,000 and resisting a police officer.

Officers were called to a business on Martin Luther King Boulevard in reference to a theft. Upon officers’ arrival, they learned from the complainant a theft in the amount of $100 had occurred. During the investigation, they developed Hawkins as a suspect in the theft. When officers went to arrest Hawkins, she began to resist officers, Blair said. She was handcuffed and jailed.

—Matthew Beval Lacy, 35, of Glenwood Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Sunday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and DWI first offense.

Officers responding to a complaint of a reckless driver on La. 182 located the vehicle in the area of La. 182 and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Officers observed a traffic violation and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was identified as Lacy. During the traffic stop, the officer suspected driver impairment. He did poorly on a field sobriety test and later refused to take a chemical test, Blair said. Police obtained a search warrant for a blood sample. Results of the test are pending at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab.

—Gerson Perez-Cardona, 29, of Headland Street in Morgan City, was arrested at 9:52 p.m. Sunday on charges of no turn signal, no driver’s license and no motor vehicle insurance.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Perez-Cardona. A computer check revealed he did not have a valid driver’s license or valid motor vehicle insurance, Blair said. He was jailed.

—Joseph Lance Jenkins, 45, of Fortins Street in Berwick, was arrested at 12:51 a.m. Monday on charges of two headlights required and driving under suspension.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of La. 182 and Myrtle Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Jenkins. A computer check revealed his driver’s license was under suspension. He was jailed.

—Roderic Terrill Clay, 45, of North Bayou Black Drive in Gibson, was arrested at 1:14 a.m. Monday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and DWI first offense.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation in the area of La. 182 and Aycock Street. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Clay. During the traffic stop, the officer suspected driver impairment. Clay did poorly on a field sobriety test and later registered 0.107 grams-percent blood alcohol content on a chemical test, Blair said. He was jailed.

—Pedro Jose Davila-Garcia, 29, of South College Road in Lafayette, was arrested at 2:14 a.m. Monday on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle and DWI first offense.

An officer on patrol observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation on La. 182. The officer conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as Davila-Garcia. During the traffic stop, the officer suspected driver impairment. He did poorly on a field sobriety test and later registered 0.175 grams-percent blood alcohol content on a chemical test, Blair said. He was jailed.

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reported the following arrests:

—Rachael Willis, 21, of Gulf Highway in Lake Charles, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Sunday on charges of possession of marijuana and license plate light required.

—Erin Green, 22, of Appletree Drive in Thibodaux, was arrested at 10:05 p.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

At about 10:05 p.m. Sunday, Berwick officers conducted a stop for a traffic violation on U.S. 90. During the traffic stop, officers identified the driver as Willis and passenger as Green. According to the investigating officer, Green began acting extremely nervous and was asked to step out of the vehicle.

Green was later found in possession of a small amount of marijuana in the form of a cookie, Leonard said. Officers then spoke further to Willis who gave verbal consent to search the vehicle. Upon conducting the search, officers located more marijuana in the form of cookies in the vehicle and arrested both, Leonard said. Green posted $2,000 bail, and Willis was jailed on $2,250 bail.

Patterson Police Chief Garrett Grogan reported the following arrests:

—Anthony R. LeBlanc Jr., 22, of Pecan Drive in Franklin, was arrested at 11:42 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, speeding over 25 mph, improper lane usage and reckless operation with no accident. No bail was set.

—Shannon M. Nash, 35, of Gabriel Street in Patterson, was arrested at 9:43 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant charging her with theft of $700 or less. Bail was set at $1,500.

—Aisha D. Davis, 40, of Kelli Drive in Patterson, was arrested at 1:33 a.m. Sunday on charges of suspended driver’s license, no insurance and no license plate. Davis paid $777 bail.
