A Morgan City woman was jailed early Wednesday after a 2-year-old found and ate THC gummies, city police said.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Morgan City Police Department responded to 53 calls for service and made this arrest:

--Moore was arrested at 4:44 a.m. Wednesday on charges of second-degree cruelty to juveniles, failure to seek assistance, obstruction of justice, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of juveniles and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law (drug-free zone). She was also booked on a fugitive warrant from the Thibodaux Police Department.

Morgan City police said officers responded to the overdose call at 2:05 a.m. Medical personnel were on the scene when police arrived.

Moore had gone to bed earlier that night, according to reports cited by police. Early in the morning, the 2-year-old woke up, gained access to the gummies and "allegedly ingested them," police said.

The child began to suffer from a medical episode, police said.

"Reports indicated that Moore delayed contacting help in an attempt to hide evidence for two hours," police said. "A search of the residence prodcued suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and additional THC Products."

The child was transported to an area hospital. Moore was booked at the Morgan City Jail.
