Morgan City man accused of possessing heroin, fentanyl destined for sale

A search at an Apple Street home, which was under investigation in an illegal drug probe, resulted in an arrest on nine charges of possession with intent to distribute drugs, including heroin and fentanyl, Morgan City police said.

Scott Williams, 33, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:23 p.m. Friday on charges of possession with intent to distribute heroin, fentanyl, cocaine, methamphetamine, amphetamine, marijuana, hydrocodone, suboxone and alprazolam, plus possession of drug paraphernalia, violation of a drug-free zone and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a juvenile.

Williams was taken to the Morgan City Jail and awaits court proceedings.

The Morgan City Police Department Narcotics Division began an investigation into the illicit sales of drugs from a residence in the area of Apple Street, the Police Department said. Williams was identified as the suspect in the investigation.

On Friday, Investigators with the Morgan City Police Department along with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant on the residence. According to reports, a search produced suspected heroin, cocaine, fentanyl, hydrocodone, amphetamines, suboxone, alprazolam, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and suspected marijuana.

Investigators uncovered evidence the illicit drugs were destined for sale, police said.

The residence was located within a drug-free zone, and several juveniles were located on the premises.
