Local police agencies report domestic abuse arrests

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

A late-summer uptick in domestic violence cases continued over the weekend, when Morgan City and Patterson police and parish deputies reported five such arrests.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 96 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Derrick Turner, 47, Solars Apartment, Morgan City, was arrested 1:45 p.m. Saturday on charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and disturbing the peace.

--Tameka Taylor, 48, Front Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:55 p.m. Saturday on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace.

--Juan Cuellar, 26, Monclova Drive, Brownsville, Texas, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of acetate/mesterolone (Schedule II), possession of cyplonate/boldenone/decoanoate (Schedule III), possession of phenylpropionate/proplonate (Schedule V) and failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jessie Davis, 33, David Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 8 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana (first offense) and introduction of contraband into a penal institution.

--Richard Giroir, 65, Arizona Street, Morgan City, was arrested 9:29 p.m. Saturday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

--Jonette Lange, 46, Second Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and criminal mischief.

--Brandon Griffin, 30, Griffin Court, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested at 6:09 p.m. Sunday on a charge of violation of protective orders.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Willis A. Brown, 75, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 1:21 a.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (pregnant victim). Brown is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Keiarra A. Paddio, 27, Gen. MacArthur Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:21 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Paddio is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Jenny B. Plessala, 33, Darlene Street, Patterson, was arrested at 12:44 a.m. Sept. 24 on a warrant for the Morgan City Police Department and a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated). Plessala is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Chimaya N. Jackson, 25, Linda Ann Avenue, Gray, was arrested at 1:03 a.m. Thursday on charges of resisting an officer (false information), failure to signal and driver’s license not on person. Jackson is currently incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $3,000.

--Dylan M. Gant, 17, Park Street, Patterson, was arrested at 11:38 p.m. Friday on a charge of simple assault. Gant was released on a summons.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 147 complaints and made these arrests:

--Dustin Wayne Turner, 38, Leesville, was arrested at 8:42 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse (child endangerment law). Bail has been set at $10,000.

--Tayler James Davis, 27, Patterson, was arrested at 9:23 a.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges possession of marijuana, operating a vehicle with improper tail lights and operating a vehicle while license is suspended. Bail set on the SMPSO warrant at $2,600.

--Jesse Hart, 33, Patterson, was arrested at 1:49 a.m. Saturday on a warrant alleging non-support. Bail has been set at $13,944.

--Joseph Jade May, 32, Patterson, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Saturday on charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and obedience to signal indicating approach to train tracks. May was also named in two warrants alleging failure to appear on a charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail has been set at $40,476.89.

--Jerroid Jermaine Garrison, 33, Patterson, was arrested at 6:43 p.m. Sunday on a charge of entry or remaining on premises after being forbidden. Bail has been set at $13,944.

--Maggie Galloway Bennett, 41, Franklin, was arrested at 1 a.m. Monday on an Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant. A hold has been placed on Bennett by another agency.

--Mark Allen Gillette II, 36, Pineville, was arrested at 2:34 a.m. Monday charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Gillette was also named in an active warrant through the Houma Police Department. Bail has not been set on the SMPSO charges, and a hold has been placed on Gillette for another agency.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 51 calls for service over the weekend and made this arrest:

--Freddie Brown, 45, Tabor Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:40 a.m. Saturday on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, hit-and-run driving, and simple criminal damage to property. Brown was booked, processed and released on a $4,500 bond.
