Local man convicted after MC high-speed pursuit

A Morgan City man accused of endangering others by leading police on a high-speed chase through city streets has been convicted by a St. Mary Parish jury, according to the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Tyler Paul Rogers, 31, was convicted July 22 on charges of aggravated flight from an officer where human life is endangered and aggravated obstruction of a highway of commerce.
Rogers will be sentenced Aug. 19 and could serve up two 25 years on the two charges.
He was accused of running a stop sign at an exit from U.S. 90 in Morgan City.
Spotted by police, he was pursued and drove at speeds at up to 80 mph on city streets, running other vehicles off the road.
Judge John E. Conery will preside at Rogers’ sentencing.
Assistant District Attorney Mason Hebert prosecuted the case. The Morgan City and Berwick police departments investigated the charges against Rogers.
