Local agencies report arrests on domestic, stolen weapons charges

Morgan City police made more arrests in a string of recent domestic abuse cases, and St. Mary deputies made their second arrest within a week on a stolen weapon charge.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 67 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Danny Paul Freia Jr., 38, Leona Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:23 p.m. Tuesday on charges of domestic abuse battery and simple battery.

--Jalesha Marie Smith, 29, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:47 a.m. Wednesday on charges of domestic abuse aggravated assault (child endangerment law).

--Alvin Joseph Francois, 53, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 2 p.m. Tuesday as a fugitive from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
--Spencer Tracy Robin, 49, Bush Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:11 a.m. Wednesday on charges of disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and resisting an officer.

--Michael Quindele Lewis, 26, Roberts Drive, Houma, was arrested at 3:49 a.m. Monday in charges of illegal possession of stolen things, flight from an officer and resisting an officer, and as a fugitive from the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Sindy Martinez, 34, Chennault Street, Morgan City, was arrested on a barking dogs charge. (Released on summons.)

--Dayshon Terell Pete, 21, Lizabeth Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:05 p.m. Monday on charges of hit-and-run driving, careless operation and no insurance. (Released on summons.)

--Alvin Joseph Francois, 53, La. 182 Morgan City, was arrested at 9:38 p.m. Monday on a charge of entry or remaining after forbidden.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 57 complaints and made these arrests:

--Lejuan Anderson, 23, New Orleans, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 6:33 p.m. Monday on charges of illegal possession of stolen firearms and violation of protective orders, and on a warrant alleging illegal possession of firearm by a felon and illegal possession of stolen firearms. Bail has not been set at this time.

--George Davison Harvey III, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:58 p.m. Monday on a charge of theft by fraud. Harvey was released on a $1,500 bond.

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported this arrest:

--Andrew Hebert, 33, Berwick, was arrested at 10:51 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging violation of a protective order.

On Feb. 6, the Berwick Police Department was dispatched to a residence in reference to a disturbance. It was learned that Hebert was one of the persons involved and had left the area prior to officer’s arrival.

Through investigation it was learned Hebert had an active protective order against him. The location in which the disturbance took place belonged to the victim, who was present during that time. Warrants were issued for Hebert’s arrest.

About 10:50 a.m. Tuesday, Hebert was located at a residence. Contact was made with Hebert, and he was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 32 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Gabrielle Davis, 20, Hospital Avenue, Franklin, was arrested at 9:08 p.m. Tuesday on charges of domestic abuse battery against family member. Davis was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--Juvenile was arrested at 5:37 p.m. Monday on a charge of disturbing the peace (fighting).

--Roger Sullivan, 62, Irish Bend Road, Franklin, was arrested at 7:12 p.m. Monday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of no license plate light, no driver’s license on person and no insurance, and on a warrant for the Morgan City Police Department alleging careless operation, driving while license suspended and hit and run. Sullivan was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

---Timothy Joseph Hendon, 35, La. 70 South, Pierre Part, was arrested Tuesday on a warrant charging him with a probation violation.

Hendon was convicted Dec. 4, 2023, in Assumption Parish on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. As a result of that conviction, Hendon was sentenced to 18 months with the Department of Corrections. That sentence was suspended, and Hendon was placed on supervised probation for 18 months with specific mandatory conditions.
Hendon violated the conditions of his probationary period, resulting in a warrant being issued for his arrest Jan. 30.

Hendon was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and ordered held without bond.
