Local agencies make multiple theft arrests

St. Mary deputies arrested five people on theft charges in the past week, while Morgan City police made a separate arrest alleging bank fraud and Patterson made yet another arrest on yet another theft charge.

Franklin police arrested a man on attempted murder charges

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Reginald Thomas, 59, Franklin, was arrested at 10:44 a.m. July 15 on a warrant alleging theft ($5,000-$25,000.)

On May 5, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Jones Road in reference to a theft complaint. He spoke to the complainant, who stated that Thomas had sold them a mobile home in January, and they had made payment. Later, Thomas informed them that he had sold the mobile home to another party and no longer had possession of it.

After agreeing to refund the money, Thomas never followed through and refunded the money to the complainant.

Through the investigation, detectives were able to establish a timeline of the business transaction, requests for the refund and the lack of restitution being made by Thomas. Detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

On July 15, patrol deputies made contact with Thomas and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Thomas was released on a $18,000 bond.

--Dustin Zane McAlister Jr., 17, Berwick, was arrested at 9:07 p.m. Thursday on charges of theft, unauthorized entry into a place of business, criminal trespass, entry or remaining on premises after being forbidden, and resisting arrest or officer. Bail has not been set at this time.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Zackery Dane Johnson, 40, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 3:35 p.m. Sunday on charges of theft, resisting arrest or officer, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail was set at $7,000.

--Lyndsey Granier Oncale, 34, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:52 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft. Bail was set at $5,000.

--Bryan Patrick Senette, 42, Berwick, was arrested at 11:12 a.m. Friday on two counts of theft. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Kylee Billiot, 22, Patterson, was arrested at 7:36 a.m. July 15 on a warrant alleging filing false records and obstruction of justice (tampering). Bail has not been set at this time.

--Brennan Troy Burney, 29, Franklin, was arrested at 7:01 p.m. July 15 on charges of proper equipment required on vehicle and switched license plate or stolen license plate, and on a Morgan City Police Department warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of marijuana. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Krissy Rae Walker, 19, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:50 a.m. Sunday on two counts of simple assault. Walker was released on a $3,500 bond.

--Brandon James Lahoste, 41, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:20 a.m. Sunday on a charge of driving while intoxicated. Lahoste was released on a $2,500 bond.

--Jermaine Dynell Harrison, 27, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:57 p.m. Friday on a charge of criminal neglect of family. Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Shane Ketchens, 39, South Grand Street, Monroe, was arrested at 7:35 a.m. Thursday on charges of bank fraud, monetary instrument abuse and theft ($1,000-$5,000).

--Mario Paul, 42, Gabriel Street, Patterson, was arrested at 3:49 p.m. Friday as a fugitive from the Patterson Police Department.

--Troy Thomas, 54, Fifth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Sunday on charges of hit and run and failure to yield.

--Asia Piggott, 30, Apple Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:36 p.m. Sunday on a charge of simple criminal damage to property.

--Ryder Lafleur, 17, Walnut Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:42 a.m. Friday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (strangulation).

--Jontea Bourgeois, 37, Hickory Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. July 15 on two counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).;

--Dylan Gant, 18, Tiffany Street, Patterson, was arrested at 12:11 p.m. July 15 on a charge of carnal knowledge of a juvenile and criminal trespassing.

--Kloey Cuvillier, 26, Wise Street, Patterson, was arrested at 7:50 p.m. July 15 on a probation violation (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Jeffery A. Slaughter 61, Mayo Street, New Iberia, was arrested at 1:31 p.m. July 15 on charges of driver’s license suspended or revoked, switch license plate and no insurance. Slaughter was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $934.

--Dan Roberson Jr., 64, Second Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:41 p.m. July 15 on charges of aggravated damage to property and aggravated assault. Roberson is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Sarakeisha D. Dugar, 33, Como Street, Patterson, was arrested at 1:08 p.m. Thursday on charges of telephone calls (harassment), cyberstalking (electronic mail) and criminal damage to property. Dugar was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $2,500.

--Brian J. Wesley, 50, Fifth Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:52 a.m. Thursday on charges of theft and possession of drug paraphernalia. Wesley is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported these arrests:

--John A. Henry, 46, Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested July 15 on charges of probation-parole violation and felon in possession of a handgun.

--Chance M. Landry, 36, Pond Drive, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested July 15 on a charge of felon in possession of a firearm and as a fugitive from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

A uniformed patrol deputy assigned to the I.C.E. Detail went to a Pond Drive address in an attempt to locate and arrest Landry on a fugitive warrant from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. The deputy observed a vehicle Landry usually drives parked in the driveway. The deputy made contact with the homeowner and obtained consent to search a shed on the property.

Deputies made entry and immediately recognized Henry, who appeared to be asleep. Deputies had prior knowledge that both Henry and Landry are convicted felons.

Deputies located Landry on the premises. Deputies observed a shotgun to be in constructive possession of both Henry and Landry, along with ammunition for the shotgun.

Henry was booked in the Assumption Parish Detention Center and was ordered held without bond on the probation-parole detainer.

Landry was booked into the center and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

--Harley Nicole Thibodeaux, 27, La. 317, Franklin, was booked Friday on a warrant charging her with failure to appear in court in Assumption Parish on Aug. 17, 2020.

Thibodeaux was previously arrested in Assumption Parish on a charge of possession of methamphetamine. As a result of that arrest, Thibodeaux was ordered to appear in court in Assumption Parish on Aug. 27, 2020, and failed to do so. As a result, a warrant was issued for the arrest
of Thibodeaux.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office notified the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office and advised that Thibodeaux was in their custody.

Thibodeaux was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on Thursday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

--Jason J. Matthews Sr., 44, North Friendship Lane, Amelia, was booked Friday on a warrant alleging failure to appear in court in Assumption Parish on a charge of possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Matthews was previously arrested in Assumption Parish and as a result of that arrest was ordered to appear in court Feb. 3, 2025, and failed to do so. A warrant was issued for his arrest on Feb. 5, 2025.

Matthews was arrested by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office on June1. Matthews was released to the custody of the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office on Friday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center, where he remains pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Carl Dupas, 62, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:49 a.m. Thursday on two counts of attempted second-degree murder and resisting an officer. Dupas was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

Dupas was the fourth suspect arrested in connection with unrelated attempted murder charges from Franklin since December.

--Zachary LeBlanc, 27, Cypress Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:23 p.m. Friday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of vicious animals and dogs prohibited. LeBlanc was booked, processed and released on a $358 bond.
