Local agencies make four domestic abuse-related arrests

St. Mary law enforcement agencies reported four arrests related to domestic abuse late this week.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 48-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 83 complaints and reports the following arrests:

--Joseph Harris, 45, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:31 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging battery of a dating partner. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Amaodra Joseph Ledet, 29, Jeanerette, was arrested at 1:38 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of careless operation, failure to maintain automobile insurance and failure to secure vehicle registration. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Lacy Elizabeth Foco, 35, Franklin, was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday on three warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of aggravated assault with a firearm, unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer, criminal trespassing, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, exploitation of the infirm, monetary instrument abuse and theft of a firearm.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 62 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Cherri Lambert, 49, Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of synthetic marijuana (first offense) and failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jeffery Lambert, 27, River Road, Berwick, was arrested at 2:35 p.m. Thursday on charges of disturbing the peace and possession of synthetic marijuana (first offense).

--Gannon Broussard, 35, Railroad Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:54 p.m. Thursday on a charge of contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Jenny Plessala, 33, Darlene Street, Patterson, was arrested at 6:02 a.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Morgan City Court).

--Dantavius Butler, 21, Wren Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:36 p.m. Wednesday as a fugitive from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 14 calls for service over last 24-hour reporting period and made this arrest:

--Kizzy Wheeler, 20, Ibert Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:22 p.m. Thursday on charges of domestic abuse battery, domestic abuse aggravated assault (child endangerment), simple criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana. Wheeler was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

Chitimacha

Chief B.C. Trahan reported these arrests:

--Shelby L. Moneaux was turned herself in Sept. 16 on charges of theft (over $500), felony issuing bad checks and forgery (more than $500).

--Keion L. Sweet was booked Sept. 17 by on charges of theft ($1,000) and issuing worthless checks.

The Chitimacha Tribal Police investigation began Aug. 9 after officers received a report regarding a felony theft. Officers gathered and collected evidence, and based on the findings, applied for warrants on the felony charges, which were approved.

After her arrest, Moneaux was transported the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center. After his arrest in coordination with the Sabine Parish Sheriff’s Office, Sweet was transported to the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department for booking and then to the Law Enforcement Center.

“Our department remains committed to conducting thorough investigations and ensuring that those who violate the law are held accountable,” Trahan said in a press release. “We appreciate the cooperation of the community and partner agencies during this case.”

--Phete Louangrath, 74, Ledoux Street, St Martinville, was arrested Sept. 23 on an active warrant alleging domestic abuse battery, obscenity and disturbing the peace (intoxicated). He was transported to St Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

--Kay Soukseunchay, 70, Ledoux Street, St Martinville; was arrested Sept. 23 on an active warrant alleging domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace ( intoxication). She was transported to St Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

--Wendall Hines, 32, Big Four Corner Roads, Jeanerette, was arrested Sept. 20 on a warrant alleging felony criminal damage to property and possession of marijuana. He was transported to St Mary Parish Sheriff's Office.

--Barnell Davis, 50, Commerce Circle, Baton Rouge, was arrested Sept. 21 on a charge of simple assault. He was released on a summons.

--Jason Verret, 49, Chitimacha Trail, Jeanerette, was arrested Sept. 23 on a charge of simple assault. He was released on a summons.
