Franklin man faces attempted murder charge after incident in Patterson

A Franklin man faces an attempted murder charge, accused of trying to drown a man Saturday at a Patterson landing.

Justin Cyril Pellerin, 33, Franklin, was arrested at 11:54 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging attempt second-degree murder and simple battery.

About 8:42 p.m., Saturday a deputy with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Wilson Landing in Patterson, in reference to a welfare complaint.

The deputy made contact with a man who reported that while he was at the sandbar off the Atchafalaya River, another individual, identified as Pellerin, allegedly attempted to drown him.

Following an investigation into the incident, a warrant was obtained for Pellerin’s arrest. On Sunday, deputies located Pellerin and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Bail has not been set at this time.
