Franklin man accused of possessing eight different drugs

Sheriff’s Office detectives have arrested a Franklin man on weapon and drug charges, including possession of eight different drugs in distribution quantities.

In Belle Rose, Assumption authorities arrested a man on murder charges in the death of a 3-year-old.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Andre Antoine Brown, 45, Franklin, was arrested at 10:57 a.m. Aug. 11 on charges of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a person convicted of certain felonies; possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine; possession with intent to distribute marijuana; possession with intent to distribute alprazolam; possession of hydrocodone; possession with intent to distribute cocaine; and possession of heroin.

Brown was also named in Sheriff’s Office warrants alleging possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana; possession with intent to distribute heroin; possession with intent to distribute synthetic marijuana; possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine; possession with intent to distribute MDMA; possession with intent to distribute amphetamine; possession of alprazolam; possession of drug paraphernalia; and illegal carrying of weapons.

On Aug. 11, detectives with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division went to a location in Baldwin to make contact with a suspect, identified as Brown, who held an outstanding warrant.

Detectives located the suspect and subsequently obtained a search warrant for the location. While executing the search warrant, investigators located and seized illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and handguns.

Brown was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking and incarceration. Bail has been set at $445,000.

--Mark Anthony Conner, 47, Patterson, was arrested at 1:20 p.m. Friday on charges of aggravated damage to property, aggravated assault, and resisting arrest or officer.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Cartney Jevonne Price, 37, Thibodaux, was arrested at 5:04 p.m. Thursday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle with improper taillights. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Deondrea Johnson, 38, Jeanerette, was arrested at 8:25 a.m. Aug. 12 on a warrant alleging possession of Schedule II drugs and obstruction of justice (tampering).

Johnson was previously arrested at 4:47 p.m. Aug. 10 on a warrant alleging aggravated battery and illegal use of weapons.

About 11 a.m. Aug. 10, deputies were dispatched to the Four Corners area in response to reports of gunfire on La. 318. Deputies located a male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound to the leg. The victim was promptly transported to a local medical facility for treatment of a non-life-threatening injury.

Detectives immediately launched an investigation into the incident. Following the collection and review of evidence from the scene, a suspect identified as Deondre Johnson was developed.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for the suspect and were able to locate and apprehend him quickly. He was subsequently transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center, where he was booked.

As the investigation progressed, detectives obtained a warrant related to the results of the search warrant that was conducted Aug. 10. Methamphetamine had been located during that search. Detectives went to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center and booked Johnson with the additional charges. Bail has not been set on the additional charges. Johnson remains incarcerated at the center.

--Joseph Daniels, 29, Jeanerette, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 2 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Ronald Triggs, 38, Elysian Fields Avenue, New Orleans, was arrested at 1:47 p.m. Friday as a fugitive from the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Shayla Williams, 28, Shaw Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 8 p.m. Saturday on charges of possession of marijuana, distribution of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alprazolam.

--Dayshawn Short, 41, Jupitar Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:27 p.m. Saturday on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Travis Skeen, 37, Aristle Road, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:08 a.m. Sunday on charges of driving while intoxicated, driving under suspension, no insurance and no vehicle registration.

--Lawrence Garrett, 30, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:44 a.m. Sunday on a charge of possession of synthetic cannabinoids (third), possession of drug paraphernalia and obstructing a public passage.

--Cade Neill, 31, Sixth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:29 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

--Demetrius James Green, 35, Arkansas Street, Morgan City, was arrested 9:02 a.m. Aug. 12 on a charge of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Sylvester L. Francois Jr., 29, Taft Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. Aug. 12 on charges of failure to appear for trial and four counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Kenneth Rollins, 36, Diane Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:11 a.m. Aug. 12 on a charge of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Troy Jones, 36, Patterson, was arrested at 10:38 a.m. Saturday on charges of criminal trespass and theft. Jones was booked, processed and held on a $5,000 bond.

--Marquette Walker, 40, Donaldsonville, was arrested at 4:49 p.m. Saturday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office warrant alleging failure to appear for arraignment on charges of direct contempt, operating a vehicle without a driver's license, careless operation of a motor vehicle and failure to honor written promise to appear. Walker was booked, processed, and released on a $349.50 bond.

--Michelle Ocasio, 48, Amelia, was arrested at 5:08 p.m. Saturday, on a Patterson Police Department warrant for failure to appear on a charge of failure to appear on s charge of failure to maintain control (with accident). Ocasio was booked, processed and released on a $618 bond.

--Erica Darby, 39, New Orleans, was arrested at 9:21 p.m. Sunday on a Morgan City Police Department warrant alleging failure to appear for trial. Darby was booked, processed and transported to the Morgan City Police Department.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Bernard JR Fleander, 26, La. 308, Belle Rose, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder and on an Assumption Parish warrant alleging simple battery.

The first-degree murder charge followed the investigation into the death of a 3-year-old Belle Rose girl.

At approximately 3:20 a.m. Thursday, deputies were dispatched to Assumption Community Hospital in Napoleonville in reference to a child who had been transported to the facility by a male subject. The child was unresponsive, and medical personnel immediately instituted lifesaving
measures, which were unsuccessful.

The child was pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives initiated an investigation and learned that the child had been transported to the hospital by an individual now identified as Fleander, who was caring for the child as well as other children. Fleander is not the biological father of the deceased child.

Detectives observed significant injuries throughout the child’s body.

Detectives executed a search warrant on an La. 308 residence in Belle Rose. Detectives interviewed witnesses who were present at the home when the incident occurred.

The child’s body was transported to a forensic facility, where an autopsy was conducted. The manner of death was classified as homicide.

Fleander was detained as part of the investigation.

As the investigation progressed into Thursday afternoon, detectives secured an arrest warrant for Fleander.

On Thursday afternoon, Fleander was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--David Norris, 57, Kirk Street, Franklin, was arrested at 6:21 a.m. Friday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of methamphetamine, obstructing a fireman and open burning prohibited. Norris was booked, processed and held on a $7,050 bond.

--Vernija Loston, 27, 10th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 4:30 p.m. Friday on a charge of simple criminal damage to property. Loston was booked, processed and released on a $500 bond.

--Michael Payton, 38, North Branch Street, Baldwin, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Monday charges of simple battery and disturbing the peace (language). Payton was additionally arrested on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of speeding and resisting
arrest. Payton was booked, processed and held on a $3,738 bond.

--Anette Sam, 43, Joseph Street, Baldwin, was arrested at 10:38 a.m. Thursday on a charge of theft. Sam was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.

--Dwayde Howard, 57, 10th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:22 p.m. Thursday on warrants alleging theft, simple burglary and felony theft. Howard was booked, processed and held on a $42,000 bond.
