Fourth, fifth suspects surrender in 2007 rape case

The final two suspects in a 2007 rape case from Franklin have surrendered to police there.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Matthew Guienze, 32, Darce Drive, Franklin, turned himself in to the Franklin Police Department at 12:16 p.m. Monday on an indictment warrant alleging aggravated rape. Guienze was booked, processed, and held on a $250,000 bond.

--Renard Collins, 33, Mary Garret Road, Franklin, with the assistance of the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, was arrested at 1:58 p.m. Friday on an indictment alleging aggravated rape. Collins was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

A St. Mary Parish grand jury indicted Guienze, Collins and three other men in the 2007 cold case. The other three men had already turned themselves in to the Police Department, and each was released on $250,000 bond.

--Shaquita Clark, 39, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:18 p.m. Monday on a warrant dated Sunday alleging aggravated assault with a firearm. Clark was booked, processed and held on a $25,000 bond.

--Joseph Nedd, 58, Tabor Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:32 p.m. Monday on a charge of theft. Nedd was additionally arrested on a warrant for 19th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Nedd was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press

--Jodrick Allen, 33, Kern Street, Jeanerette, was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Friday on warrants for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of tail lamps, expired motor vehicle inspection, no insurance and speeding. Allen was booked, processed and released on a $771 bond.

--Jake Leger, 31, Bayou Black Drive, Gibson, was arrested at 11:12 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office alleging simple battery. Leger was booked, processed, and released on a $2,500 bond.

--Elizabeth Daniels, 21, Robertson Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:08 a.m. Monday on a charge of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Daniels was booked, processed and held on a $4,000 bond.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 81 complaints and made this arrest:

--Dustin Brewer, 25, Houma, was arrested at 4:19 p.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on charges of reckless operation of a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Gage M. Gautreaux, 25, Gouax Street, Houma was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Monday on charges of speeding 83 mph in a 55 mph zone, reckless operation (no accident) and no insurance. Gautreaux was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $921.

--Christine S. Crane, 53, Verdunville Road, Franklin, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Monday for driver’s license suspended or revoked and speeding 67 mph in a 55 mph zone.
Crane was incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $673.

--April A. Johnson, 47, Verdunville Road, Franklin, was arrested at 10:17 p.m. Monday on a St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of operating a vehicle while license is suspended or revoked, operating a vehicle not covered by security, no seat belt, and operating a vehicle with improper stop lamps, and on a Morgan City Police Department warrant alleging failure to stop or yield. Johnson is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.
