Drug, rape arrests reported by law enforcement

Morgan City police reported an arrest on drug charges early this week. Assumption deputies arrested a Paincourtville man and accused him of second-degree rape.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 43 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests.

--Leanna Maria Steele, 38, Shannon Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:02 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, introduction of contraband into a penal facility, resisting an officer, improper lighting and failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Ti"Ryce Bryeon Cliney, 28, Terrebonne Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:11 p.m. Monday as a fugitive from the Chitimacha Police Department.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 37 complaints and made these arrests:

--Emmanuel Devon Loston, 38, was arrested at 2:10 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon; illegal use, possession or control of weapon (crime of violence, controlled dangerous substance), possession of a Schedule II drug and possession of marijuana.

Bail was set at $27,250.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Gage Austin Gros, 29, La. 1, Paincourtville, was arrested on charges of second-degree rape.

The case involved an attack on a child under 16m which occurred in March 2014 at a residence in Paincourtville.

Gros was already in jail on charges of first-degree rape in Assumption Parish. A 23rd Judicial District Court judge ordered Gros held without bond in that matter. That matter was referred to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office in Montgomery, Texas.

In the latest case, detectives traveled to Texas to interview a party to the case. As this case progressed, detectives filed an arrest warrant Gros. He was booked on the second-degree rape count.

As a result of the latest charges, a 23rd Judicial District judge set Gros’ bond at $1 million.

Gros remains incarcerated in the Assumption Parish Detention Center.

The investigation continues in an effort to identify other possible victims.
