Drug, domestic arrests reported by authorities

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

Drug and domestic battery charges figured in many of the arrests reported by area law enforcement agencies over the last week.

Franklin police also reported a sex crime arrest, and Assumption deputies accused a man of aggravated battery after a fight.

Berwick

Chief David Leonard Sr. reported these arrests:

--Male juvenile, 15, was arrested at 11:32 a.m. March 26 on charges of possession of a THC vape and violation of a drug-free zone.

About 11:32 a.m. March 26, the school resource officer was advised by school officials of a student that was in possession of a vape. The SRO met with school personnel and the juvenile. It was then learned that the vape contained THC products.

The juvenile was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked and released to a parent pending a court hearing.

--Ricee Young, 21, Gretna, was arrested at 6:51 p.m. March 26 on charges of possession of cocaine, possession of THC edibles, possession of marijuana (under 14 grams) and possession of drug paraphernalia.

About 6:40 p.m. March 26, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after it was observed speeding 72 mph in a 55 mph zone. Officers made contact with the driver, who was identified as Young. While officers spoke with Young, a bag with suspected cocaine was observed in plain view inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle was conducted, at which time marijuana, THC products and items of paraphernalia were also located. Young was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where she was booked.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Tamika Verdun, 39, Federal Way, Washington, was arrested at 3:26 a.m. Thursday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana, possession of Schedule IV drugs, possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Deanndrick Davon Gash, 34, Franklin, was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery and possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $2,000.

--Lataji Amber Brown, 24, Franklin, was arrested at 7:17 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail was set at $1,000.

--Carol Lee Bowie, 62, Franklin, was arrested at 6:44 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging disturbing the peace (fighting) and possession of marijuana. Bail was set at $1,000.

--Roger Grow, 57, Morgan City, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 9:20 p.m. March 26 on charges of improper lane use, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Mark John August, 38, Gretna, was arrested at 8:37 p.m. Saturday on a Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office warrant alleging failure to appear. August is being held for another agency.

--Zacolby Granger, 33, Morgan City, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 3:15 p.m. Sunday on two warrants alleging criminal damage to property and traffic charges. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Dantavius Rodrigue Butler, 20, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:41 a.m. Sunday on charges of resisting arrest or officer, driver must be licensed, proper equipment required on vehicles, failure of owner to secure registration, switched or stolen license plate, view outward and inward of window, and careless operation.

Bail was set at $4,500.

--Tra'vanna Nechelle Singleton, 20, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. Friday on charges of cruelty to a juvenile, criminal trespass and home invasion. Bail was set at $7,500.

Ronnie Gregoire Jr., 32, St. Rose, was arrested at 9:01 p.m. March 26 on charges of disturbing the peace (language) and simple assault. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Hilton Charles Abraham Jr., 51, Charenton, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 6:17 p.m. March 26 on charges of improper lane use, window tint, possession of firearm or carrying concealed weapon by person convicted of certain felonies, no insurance, proper equipment required on vehicle, and driving under suspension.

Bail has not been set at this time.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--James Domangue, 74, Nebraska Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:45 a.m. March 26 on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and possession of drug paraphernalia. (Released on summons.)

--Phillip Demarcus, 52, Poncio Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:52 p.m. Friday on four counts of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court) and as a fugitive from the Thibodaux Police Department.

--Shantay Simpson, 34, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:24 p.m. Friday on charges of general speed law, driving under suspension and four counts of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Taiwan Smith, 35, Acron Street, Kenner, was arrested at 8:55 p.m. Friday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

--Brian Justilian, 57, Glenwood Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:21 a.m. Saturday on three counts of failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court) and failure to appear for trial (16th Judicial District Court).

--Martin Levine, 63, Freret Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:31 a.m. Saturday on a charge of criminal damage to property (less than $1,000).

--Blake McNemar, 36, Leona Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Sunday on a charge of driving under suspension.

--Vernon Robinson, 39, Duke Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:26 a.m. Thursday on six counts of failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Sarah Scott, 43, Walnut Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:30 p.m. March 26 on a charge of violation of a protective order (second offense).

Patterson

Chief Garrett Grogan reported these arrests:

--Carmell J. Triggs Jr., 43, Tall Timber Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 4:04 a.m. Thursday on charges of resisting an officer with force or violence, disarming a police officer, criminal trespass, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Triggs is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Warkel R. Favors, 35, Gabriel Street, Patterson, was arrested at 10:48 p.m. March 26 on a charge of violation of protective orders. Favors is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with no bond set.

--Andrew J. Selwyn, 32, Shepherds Ponds, Georgia, was arrested at 11:36 a.m. Thursday on charges of failure to comply and disturbing the peace. Selwyn is incarcerated at the Patterson PD Jail with bond set at $719.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Travis Paul Aucoin, 49, Paige Lane, Pierre Part, was arrested March 26 on charges of aggravated battery and criminal trespass.

The charges arise from disturbance in the 100 block of Riverbend Street in Belle River on Wednesday evening.

Deputies were dispatched to the area and made contact with the parties, involved as well as witnesses in the area.

Deputies initiated an investigation and determined that two individuals, one now identified as Aucoin, confronted each other over family related matters. A physical confrontation occurred and at some point, the two engaged in a fight. The accused, Aucoin, allegedly struck the victim with a pipe and attempted to choke him.

Investigating deputies observed physical injuries to the victim. Deputies recovered a pipe allegedly used as a weapon.

Aucoin was arrested near the location of the incident. Aucoin was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:

--Ricky Lemon, 56, Anderson Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:05 p.m. Friday on charges of molestation of a juvenile and sexual battery. Lemon was booked, processed and held on $300,000 bond.

--Quentin Barabin, 39, Lovette Street, Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:49 a.m. Thursday on three counts of resisting an officer, disturb the peace, and resisting an officer (refusing to identify). Barabin was booked, processed and held with no bond set at time of press release.

--Shacoby Johnson, 29, Laperouse Drive, New Iberia, was arrested at 8:57 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of a Schedule I drug and possession of drug paraphernalia. Johnson was booked, processed and released on a $4,000 bond.

--Lysander Williams, 56, Rod Lane, Baldwin, was arrested at 5:25 p.m. Friday on charges of simple battery, disturbing the peace and driving under suspension. Williams was booked, processed and released on a $4,500 bond.

--Tyrus Polidore, 34, 12th Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:14 p.m. Saturday on charges of battery of a police officer and resisting an officer. Polidore was additionally, arrested on warrants for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to register and notify as a sex offender and a failure to appear warrant alleging criminal neglect of family. Polidore
was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Danielle Brown, 51, Plantation Drive, Franklin, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Saturday on charges of driving under suspension, no proof of insurance and improper display of plate. Brown was booked, processed and released on a $766 bond.

--Deangela Ina, 40, Park Avenue, Franklin, was arrested at 12:12 p.m. Sunday on charges of domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer and battery of a police officer. Ina was booked, processed and held on a $4,500 bond.

--Kevin Ina, 54, Park Avenue, Franklin, was arrested at 12:14 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Ina was booked, processed and held on a $2,500 bond.

--Season Edwards, 22, 19th Street, Lake Charles, was arrested at 10:49 p.m. Sunday on charges of speeding and reckless operation. Edwards was booked, processed and released on a $875.50 bond.
