Drug charges include possession with intent

Local law enforcement agencies reported a pair of drug arrests this week, including possession with intent charges against a Morgan City resident.
Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
--Raquel Delaune Barber,49, Clements Street, Morgan City, was arrested Monday on charges of possession with intent to distribute oxymorphone (Opano), possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, possession of methamphetamine and obstruction of justice.
The charges result from a traffic stop near La. 622 and U.S. 90 early Monday.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle commit a traffic violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle, driven by Marquil Dyrone Singleton.
The deputy noted equipment violations by the driver as well as one passenger.
The deputy noticed a rear seat passenger moving back and forth and not complying with deputy commands. At some point, the deputy removed the rear seat passenger, now identified as Barber.
Consent to search was obtained from all parties and as a result of that search, quantities of methamphetamine, multiple doses of Tramadol and oxycodone were seized and attributed to Barber.
Deputies arrested Barber and booked her into the Assumption Parish Detention with bond set at $100,000.
Singleton, 24, Levee Road, Morgan City, was cited for no seat belt and turning movement and required signals.
He was released with a court date.
The third occupant, Elliot D. Broussard, 61, Texas Street, Lafayette, was cited for no seat belt and released with a court date.
St. Mary
Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 24 -hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 48 complaints and made these arrests:
--Jose Cano, 40, Berwick, was arrested at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday by the Narcotics Section a charge of possession of methamphetamine. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Carlos Wayne Joseph, 34, Jeanerette, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant alleging battery of a dating partner. Bail has not been set at this time.
Morgan City
Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 39 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting and made this arrest:
--Lakatha Marie Jackson, 36, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:41 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of allowing dogs to roam. (Released on summons.)
Franklin
Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 17 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
--Bricelon Martin, 28, Cayce Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:27 a.m. Wednesday on a warrant dated Nov. 19 alleging three counts of simple burglary, three counts of simple criminal damage to property, two counts of theft and three counts of resisting an officer.
Martin was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
--Brad Romero, 23, Abbirene Street, Franklin, was arrested at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of obstruction of justice. Romero was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
