Drug arrests reported this week by city, parish authorities

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

Parish and city police reported five arrests on drug charges this week, including one involving more than a pound of marijuana (see related story).

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 48-hour reporting period, the Sheriff's Office responded to 55 complaints and made these arrests:

--Trent Henry Duhon, 28, Franklin, was arrested at 3:59 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of Schedule II drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia, theft, criminal trespass and attempted burglary.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--George Davison Harvey III, 41, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 4:02 p.m. Thursday by the Narcotics Section on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Hector Ruiz-Santos, 42, Patterson, was arrested at 11:06 p.m. Thursday on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, open container and expired driver's license.

Bail was set at $425.

Tina Marie Weaver, 52, Amelia, was arrested at at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of simple battery.

Bail has not been set at this time

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reports that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 93 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Blake Anthony Johnson, 36, Brashear Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:50 a.m. Thursday on charges of domestic abuse battery, resisting an officer and criminal damage to property.

--Dwayne John Romero, 58, Bush Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:43 a.m. Thursday on a charge of possession of marijuana.

--Michael Lee Howard, 52, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested 12:47 p.m. Thursday on a charge of failure to appear to pay fines (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Gordon Chris Helman, 53, Uranus Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:09 p.m. Thursday on five counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Sarah Ann Barnett, 34, Clark Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of possessio nof drug paraphernalia.

--Larry Garrett Barnett, 44, Sixth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:57 a.m.Wednesday on a charge of violation of a protective order.

--Timothy Joseph Tanner, 31, Wisteria Street, Lumberton, Texas, was arrested at 5:28 p.m. Wednesday as a fugitive from Chambers County, Texas.

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported this arrest:

--Clifton Williams, 30, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday on a charge of possesson of marijuana (under 14 grams).

About 5:31 p.m. Wednesday, a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle after a traffic violation was observed. Officers made contact with the driver of the vehicle, who was identified as Williams.

While speaking with Williams, a strong odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle. A search was conducted, at which time marijuana was located inside.

Williams was placed under arrest and later released on a summons to appear in court .

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported tha the Franklin Police Department responded to six complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made this arrest:

--Jason Giroir, 44, Cedar Street, Franklin, was arrested at 11:49 p.m. Thursday on a charge of simple battery. Giroir was booked, processed and released on a $535 bond.
