Drug and property crime accounts for many recent arrests

St. Mary law enforcement agencies reported five drug-related arrests and five on property crimes charges this week.
Morgan City
Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 91 calls for service over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
--Georgianna Jacqulin Sweetser, 56, Seventh Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of illegal possession of stolen property.
--Brittan Michael Boudreaux, 39, Elizabeth Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:01 a.m. Tuesday on charges of theft (less than $1,000), criminal trespassing, disturbing the peace (intoxicated) and resisting an officer.
--Somoa Kenyatta Scott Jr., 28, Shaw Drive, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:12 p.m. Monday on charges of possession with intent to distribute marijuana, violation of a drug-free zone and failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
--Liann Yirina Mejias Serrano, 20, Westheimer Road, Houston, was arrested 12:48 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana (first offense).
--Yanisleidis Socorro Laurencio, 20, Hayes Road, Houston, was arrested at 12:48 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
--Jay P Prestenbach, 42, Duke Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:27 p.m. Monday on charges of simple assault and telephone harassment.
St. Mary
Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 48-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 83 complaints and made these arrests:
--Anthony Dequinton Gant, 42, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Kristi Lynn Simmons, 39, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:34 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. Bail has been set at $1,000.
--Deondrea Johnson, 36, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:07 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and on two warrants alleging failure to appear on the charges of possession of marijuana (more than 14 grams), operating a vehicle not covered by security and improper use of registration
or license. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Alyssa Marie Goodwin, 23, Berwick, was arrested at 10:16 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of speeding and reckless operation of a vehicle. Goodwin was released on her own recognizance.
--Christopher Deshon Snowden Jr., 25, Charenton, was arrested at 1:42 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana or synthetic cannabinoids with intent to distribute, possession of Tramadol, possession of hydrocodone, and possession, use or control of
weapons in a crime of violence or in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance.
Snowden was released on a $15,002 bond.
--Mariano Arteaga-Chavez, 25, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:55 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple battery.
--Erick Cardenas, 34, Berwick, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of unlawful posting of criminal activity for notoriety and publicity. Bail has not been set at this time.
---Daniel Alejandro Hernandez-Vasquez, 36, Berwick, was arrested at 9:19 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of simple battery. Bail has not been set at this time.
--Keny Yosseth Ramos-Valle, 24, Amelia, was arrested at 10:55 p.m. Tuesday on a Morgan City Police Department warrant for misdemeanor sexual battery. Ramos-Valle is being held for another agency.
--Darrel Jackson, 34, Thibodaux, was arrested at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday on two Thibodaux warrants alleging iolation of a protective order, simple batter, and entry on or remaining after forbidden. Jackson is being held for another agency.
--Lamonta Lavont Skinner, 20, Franklin, was arrested at 2:22 p.m. Monday on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender. Bail has not been set at this time.
Franklin
Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to nine complaints over the last 48-hour reporting period and made these arrests:
--Anthony Wells, 71, Antigo Alley, Franklin was arrested at 5:19 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant dated July 7 alleging theft. Wells was booked, processed and released on a $1,500 bond.
--Dwayne Shaw, 29, La. 83, Franklin, was arrested at 9:45 a.m. Monday on charges of speeding and driving under suspension. Shaw was booked, processed and released on a $263 bond.
--Cory Pierce, 38, Iberia Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:33 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court for failure to appear on two counts of running at large prohibited and a warrant for 6th Ward Morgan City Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia. Pierce was additionally arrested on the charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Pierce was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
