Domestic, dating partner battery arrests reported by city, parish

Morgan City police and St. Mary deputies reported arrests Monday on charges related to domestic abuse.

Berwick police reported a pair of weekend arrests on meth and marijuana charges. And Franklin officers arrested a man accused of rape and indecent behavior.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 39 calls for service over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Brennan Paul Cenac, 34, Duke Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:38 p.m. Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery and disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

--Shane Joseph Granger, 35, Chetta Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Monday on five counts of failure to appear for arraignment (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

--Agatha Maria McCleary, 30, Roderick Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:15 p.m. Monday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.

--Gerald Price III, 29, Gen. MacArthur Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:28 p.m. Monday on charges of driving while intoxicated (first offense) and improper turning.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 40 complaints and made these arrests:

--Josse Galindo, 40, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 6:14 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging aggravated battery of a dating partner (strangulation). Bail has not been set at this time.

--Braylan Raedel Hamilton Sr., 39, Franklin, was arrested at 11:22 a.m. Monday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on the charges of criminal neglect of family and simple battery. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Lysa Marie Fabre, 36, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:21 p.m. Monday on an Assumption Parish warrant alleging failure to appear on the charges of no seat belt and possession, sale, or distribution of a legend drug without prescription or order. Fabre is being held for another agency.

Berwick

Chief David S. Leonard reported these arrests:

--Mark Hilliard, 40, Live Oak Street, Patterson, was arrested at 1:33 a.m. Friday on charges of two headlights required, two tail lights required, no driver’s license on person and possession of methamphetamine.

At 1:31 a.m. Friday, officers in the area of La. 182 observed a vehicle with improper lighting. A traffic stop was conducted, and officers made contact with Hilliard. During the course of the stop Hilliard was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Hilliard was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he was booked.

--Jeremie Watson, 41, Glenwood Street, Morgan City was arrested at 12:42 a.m. Saturday on charges of driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, aggravated obstruction of highway, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, resisting an officer, no driver’s license and no headlights.

About 12:30 a.m. Saturday, an officer in the area of U.S. 90 observed a vehicle traveling east with no headlights. The vehicle was observed driving erratically and nearly ran several vehicles off the roadway.

Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, at which time the driver began driving at high rates of speed and continuing to run others off the road. After a brief pursuit, the driver stopped and was taken into custody. The driver was identified as Watson.

Watson showed signs of obvious impairment. A strong odor of marijuana was detected from the vehicle. Upon searching, marijuana and paraphernalia were located inside.

Watson was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department, where he refused all SFST testing and an intoxilyzer test. Watson was booked.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to four complaints over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Javonta Henry, 30, Guidroz Street, Franklin, was arrested at 2:43 p.m. Sunday on a warrant dated April 26, alleging third-degree rape and four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles. Henry was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

--Davien Burrell, 22, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 3:25 p.m. Sunday on a warrant dated May 5 alleging possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies. Burrell was booked, processed and released on a $10,000 bond.
