--Kayla Marie McNeely, 24, Elaine Street, Bayou L’Ourse, was arrested Tuesday on a charge of possession of methamphetamine.
The arrests followed a traffic stop on Elaine Street.
A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with multiple licensing and equipment violations and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, now identified as Demarco, and engaged the driver in an interview. The deputy determined that Demarco was
driving under a suspended driver’s license.
During a criminal warrants check of all occupants of the vehicle, deputies determined that John Joseph Demarco was wanted on a fugitive warrant from the St, Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office. Demarco was arrested.
The deputy noted unusual behavior by a female passenger, now identified as McNeely. The deputy provided instructions to McNeely, which she failed to follow.
During questioning, McNeely acknowledged that there was methamphetamine in her purse. The methamphetamine was seized.
McNeely was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention and incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
Demarco was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending transfer to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
