Deputies make arrest in Centerville shooting
A Centerville man has been arrested in Sunday’s shooting that wounded another man in that community.
Roderick Beauregard Rodriguez, 51, Centerville, was arrested at 11:13 p.m. Sunday on a charge of attempted second-degree murder, the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said.
About 1:07 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a residence in Centerville on a welfare concern call. They found a man wounded by gunfire in a camper at the residence.
Acadian Ambulance was called to the scene, and the wounded man was transported to a hospital and subsequently flown by helicopter to an out-of-town medical facility.
Detectives were called to the scene and opened an investigation into the incident. Through the investigation, Rodriguez was identified as a person of interest in the case, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Evidence was obtained and Rodriguez was arrested, charged with attempted second-degree murder, and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.
Bail was set at $500,000.
