Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Passion Moenah Keal, 22, Mississippi Street, New Iberia, was arrested Wednesday on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, taking contraband to or from a penal institution and obstruction of justice.

The charges resulted from a traffic stop on U.S. 90 near Bayou L’Ourse late Wednesday.

A uniformed patrol vehicle observed an eastbound vehicle with an equipment violation and initiated a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Jarvis

Jerell Grayson, 25, Brenda Drive, New Iberia.

The deputy determined that Grayson was driving under a suspended driver’s license.

The deputy noted multiple occupants were in the vehicle and proceeded to interview Keal. At the conclusion of those interviews, the deputy requested a K-9. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle and alerted positive to the presence of controlled dangerous substances.

A search was conducted of that vehicle and its occupants. A quantity of marijuana was seized from the vehicle as well as off the person of Keal. Deputies arrested Keal. Once at the detention facility, an invasive search resulted in the seizure of additional marijuana from the person of Keal.

Keal was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on pending a bond hearing.

Grayson was issued citations for driving under a suspended driver's license and illegal window tint.

Ashleigh Fulton, 28, Miracle Road, Roxie, Mississippi, was issued a summons alleging possession of marijuana and was issued a court date.
