Deputies, city police report six theft arrests

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

St. Mary deputies and Morgan City police reported six arrests on theft charges this week. The parish deputies also made an aggravated assault arrest.

Morgan City
Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:
•Olsin Arias, 17, Victor II Boulevard, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:26 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of theft of a motor vehicle (over $25,000) and as a fugitive from the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office.
•Brittany Morgan, 34, Bush Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 7:19 a.m. Wednesday on a charge of theft (less than $1,000) and at 11:05 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense) and three counts of theft (under $1,000).
•Nigel Singleton, 31, address unknown, was arrested at 8:13 a.m. Tuesday on charges of remaining where forbidden, simple criminal damage to property, domestic abuse battery, failure to appear for trial (6th Ward Morgan City Court) and failure to appear for sentencing (16th Judicial District Court).
•Jasmine Junifer, 35, Egle Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of direct contempt of court (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
•Isidro Cerda, 56, Louisa Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of animal cruelty. (Released on summons.)
•Jonathan Jose Rodriguez-Perou, 21, Federal Avenue, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:44 p.m. Tuesday on charges of possession of marijuana (first offense), possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, illegal carrying of a weapon, violation of a drug-free zone, proper equipment required and no insurance.
•Hector Reyes, 18, Aucoin Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:27 a.m. Monday on a charge of possession of marijuana (first offense). (Released on a summons.)
•Joshua Jones, 37, Stephensville Road, Stephensville, was arrested at 3:26 p.m. Monday on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
•Terrell Bullock, 31, Fourth Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:57 p.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear for an imposition hearing (16th Judicial District Court).
•Kollin Nelson, 17, Willowbend Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 6:49 p.m. Monday on charges of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling and criminal trespass.
•Clarence Sheets, 54, Cedar Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 10:46 p.m. Monday on a charge of failure to appear for sentencing (16th Judicial District Court).
•Darrin Hemphill, 56, Front Street, Morgan City, was arrested 12:28 a.m. Tuesday on five counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).
•Jamar Murray, 27, Willow Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday on charges of simple battery and resisting an officer.

St. Mary
Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:
•Corey Kenneth Blake, 26, Vancleave, Mississippi, was arrested at 9:14 p.m. Sunday on a charge of theft. Bail was set at $2,000.
 •Jason James Ashley, 36, Baker, was arrested at 10:06 p.m. Sunday on a charge of theft. Bail was set at $5,000.
 •Kenneth Wayne Rollins, 35, Patterson, was arrested at 5:08 p.m. Monday on charges of theft and forgery. Bail was set at $12,000.
•Janet Ashelyn Max, 30, Franklin, was arrested at 11:13 p.m. Saturday on a charge of aggravated assault with a firearm. Bail was set at $15,000.
•Rebecca Lorrine Sue Clark, 42, Franklin, was arrested at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of amphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bail has not been set at this time.
•L’dre Marvinell Thomas, 36, Franklin, Mississippi, was arrested at 10:39 p.m. Tuesday on charges of entry on or remaining in places or on land after being and unauthorized entry of inhabited dwelling. Bail has not been set at this time.
•Ronshell Bernice Phillips, 33, Jeanerette, was arrested at 7:33 p.m. Monday on charges of switched or stolen license plate, expired license plate, failure to secure registration, proper equipment required on vehicle/inspection tag and no insurance.
Phillips was released on a $1,250 bond.
•Treshonda Edwina Butler, 31, New Iberia, was arrested at 9:09 a.m. Feb. 14 on a warrant alleging failure to appear. Butler was released on personal surety.
•Sarah Duplantis Scott, 42, Morgan City, was arrested at 12:23 p.m. Monday on a charge of violation of protective orders. Bail has not been set at this time.
•Emma Mae Hixon, 38, Centerville, was arrested at 9:10 p.m. Monday on charges of domestic abuse battery (strangulation) and resisting arrest or officer. Bail was set at $12,500.

Assumption
Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:
•Donald J. Herbert, 33, La. 1003, Klotzville, was arrested Monday on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, two counts of resisting an officer, driving on roadway laned for traffic and speeding.
The charges arising from a pursuit that originated Monday on La. 1 south of Belle Rose.
A uniformed patrol officer observed a southbound vehicle on La, 1 commit a traffic violation and attempted a stop.
The suspect driver engaged the deputy in a pursuit that lasted several minutes and continued to La 1003. The responding deputies were able to successfully terminate the pursuit without incident near La. 70 and La. 996.
Herbert was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending a bond hearing.

Franklin
Chief Cedric Handy reported these arrests:
•Jumichael Smith, 46, Hamilton Street, Franklin, was arrested at 8:50 p.m. Feb. 14 on a warrant for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on charges of simple assault, remaining where forbidden, and resisting an officer. Smith was additionally arrested on the charge of resisting an officer. Smith was booked, processed and held on a $2,968 bond.
•Dewellyn Howard, 44, Ninth Street, Franklin, was arrested at 1:52 a.m. Saturday on a warrant for the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office alleging improper lane usage, possession of Schedule I narcotics, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule IV narcotics, possession of Schedule III narcotics, possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance and carrying of a firearm by convicted felon. Howard was booked, processed and held on a $21,600 bond.
•Brendan Comeaux, 31, Kirk Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:54 a.m. Sunday on warrants for 3rd Ward City Court alleging failure to appear on two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and driving under suspension.
Comeaux was booked, processed and held on a $746 bond.
•Lonnie Lewis, 44, Sonny Street, Lafayette, was arrested, at 7:46 p.m. Sunday on charges of speeding, no driver’s license, no registration, no insurance, expired license plate and possession of marijuana.
Lewis was booked, processed and released on a $3,500 bond.
•Juvenile was arrested at 8:04 p.m. Sunday as ungovernable juvenile.
•Damenn Stansbury, 56, of Franklin, was arrested at 5:29 p.m. Tuesday on charges of simple criminal damage to property, four counts of resisting an officer and remaining where forbidden.
Stansbury was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.
