Deputies arrest juvenile on sexual battery charge

Sheriff’s deputies arrested a juvenile accused of sexual battery on Monday, and Morgan City police made their fourth drunk-driving arrest in four days.

St. Mary

Sheriff Blaise Smith reported that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 42 complaints and made these arrests:

--Juvenile male, Franklin, was arrested at 10:06 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging sexual battery. The juvenile male was released into the custody of a guardian pending juvenile court proceedings.

—Joseph Lee Robertson Sr., 57, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:39 a.m. Monday on a charge of second-degree battery. Robertson continues to be incarcerated at the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.

—Edwin Young Jr., 42, Charenton, was arrested at 9:40 p.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on a warrant alleging window tint violation, improper display of a license plate, flight from an officer and possession of drug paraphernalia, and on warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of simple criminal damage to property.

Young was released on a $4,500 bond.

—Christopher Haynes Sr., 39, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on four warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of marijuana, failure to maintain automobile liability insurance, operating a vehicle with an unlit license plate, possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage and speeding.

Bail has not been set.

—Kristi Adams, 42, Berwick, was arrested at 11:58 a.m. Monday by the Narcotics Section on two warrants for failure to appear on the charges of possession of carisoprodol and possession of methamphetamine. Bail has not been set.

Morgan City

Police Chief James F. Blair reports that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 37 calls over the last 24-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

—Riva Thomas, 31, Sixth Street, Berwick, was arrested at 9:32 a.m. Monday on a warrant alleging simple battery.

—Bridget R. Skinner, 49, Grace Street, Amelia, was arrested at 5:36 p.m. Monday on warrants alleging driving under suspension, careless operation, resisting an officer (false information) and crossing over private property to avoid traffic control.

—Bridget Lefort, 71, Cyril Street, Pierre Part, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Monday on charges of driving while intoxicated (second offense) and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

— Jeremy James Rodgers, 42, Bonjovi Boulevard, Gray, was arrested Monday on an Iberia Parish warrant alleging failure to appear for felony arraignment and on a fugitive warrant from Terrebonne Parish.

The arrested followed a traffic stop near Amelia on Sunday night.

A uniformed patrol deputy observed a vehicle with an equipment violation and executed a stop of that vehicle. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Rodgers, and initiated an interview.

The deputy requested a warrants check on Rodgers, and the Communications Division advised that Rodgers was wanted by Iberia and Terrebonne on fugitive warrants.

Rodgers was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center pending transfer to the custody of the respectful jurisdictions.

Franklin

Police Chief Morris Beverly reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 11 complaints over the past 24 hours and made this arrest:

—Joseph Thomas, 59, Myra Street, Franklin, was arrested at 10:52 p. m. Monday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on the charge of battery on a correctional facility employee. Thomas was booked, processed and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
