Deputies arrest five on battery charges

St. Mary deputies made five arrests on battery charges over the weekend, including four alleging domestic violence and one involving child endangerment.

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported that over the last 72-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 161 complaints and made these arrests:

--Thai Ty Quang, 53, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:14 p.m. Sunday on a charge of domestic abuse battery. Bail was set at $5,000.

--Roscoe Lamar Sasnett, 32, Patterson, was arrested at 3:34 p.m. Sunday on two counts of domestic abuse child endangerment law, open container, disturbance, expired or no inspection sticker and domestic abuse battery.

--Eric Joseph Fontenot, 41, Morgan City, was arrested at 8:14 p.m. on charges of domestic abuse battery, unauthorized entry of inhabited dwelling, and resisting arrest or officer. Bail was set at $17,000.

--Yunior Nahin Nazar-Garcia, 28, Amelia, was arrested at 9:54 p.m. Saturday on a charge of domestic abuse battery (strangulation). Bail was set at $15,000.

Bail was set at $16,500.

--Candice Nicole Norman, 34, Bayou Vista, was arrested on August at 8:13 p.m. Saturday on a charge of theft and on a warrant alleging failure to appear for the charge of theft. Bail was set at $4,500.

--Eric Lee Fontenot, 17, Bayou Vista, was arrested at 8:25 p.m. Saturday on charges of battery on a police officer, disturbing the peace (language) and interfering with a law enforcement investigation. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Timothy Wayne Tindell, 50, Ricohoc, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Sunday on a charge of obstruction of justice (tampering). Bail was set at $500.

--Adrianna Daigle Duhon, 43, Centerville, was arrested at 7:41 p.m. Sunday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on a charge of simple criminal damage to property. Duhon was released on a $2,500 bond.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported that the Morgan City Police Department responded to 139 calls for service over the last 72-hour reporting period and made these arrests:

--Derrick Lynn Turner, 46, Martin Luther King Drive, Patterson, was arrested at 12:13 p.m. Saturday on charges of forgery and theft (under $1,000).

--Iris Marleny Hendriquz Ramirez, 36, Magnolia Street, Amelia, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. Sunday on a charge of disturbing the peace (intoxicated).

--Jules Anthony Joiner Jr., 27, Lachene Street, Pierre Part, was arrested at 7:53 a.m. Monday on two counts of violation of a protective order.

Franklin

Chief Cedric Handy reported that the Franklin Police Department responded to 20 complaints over the weekend and made these arrests:

--Roderic Clay, 50, Bayou Black Drive, Gibson, was arrested at 9:46 p.m. Friday on a warrant for 6th Ward Court alleging contempt of court (violating terms of probation). Clay was booked, processed and held on a $500 bond.

--Shawn Jenkins, 47, Morris Street, Franklin, was arrested at 6:48 a.m. Saturday on a warrant dated May 20 alleging criminal trespassing and resisting an officer. Jenkins was booked, processed and held on a $3,000 bond.

--Cameron Cleary, 23, Abbeywood Street, Youngsville, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. Saturday on a charge of resisting an officer. Cleary was booked, processed and released to appear in 3rd Ward City Court.

--Brandon Cleary, 23, Abbeywood Street, Youngsville, was arrested at 7:36 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on charges of failure to use seatbelts and failure to honor written promise to appear. Cleary was booked, processed and released on a $125 bond.

--Donald Davis, 17, Hospital Avenue, Franklin, was arrested at 10:50 p.m. Saturday on charges of lights when required, driver must be licensed and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile. Davis was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--Darien Hoskins, 18, La. 182, Jeanerette, was arrested at 10:51 p.m. Saturday on a warrant for 16th Judicial District Court alleging failure to appear on a charge of disturbing the peace by fighting. Hoskins was booked, processed and held with no bond set at the time of press release.

--Rocky Giroir, 22, Forest Street, Franklin, was arrested at 7:22 a.m. Sunday on charges of careless operation, driving on roadway laned for traffic, simple criminal damage to property, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Giroir was booked, processed and held on a $5,000 bond.
