Cruelty, synthetic pot charges in recent arrests

(Editor’s note: The charges listed here and the narratives that go with them are provided by the police agencies that made the arrests. Guilt or innocence has not been determined in court.)

Two charges that have frequented local arrest reports, possession of synthetic cannabinoids and mistreatment of the infirm, appeared again in arrests by local authorities this week.

Morgan City

Chief Chad M. Adams reported these arrests:

--Jakhi Legnon,18, Honey Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday on a charge of possession of synthetic cannabinoids. (Released on summons.)

--Rachael Daigle, 58, Willard Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 4:41 p.m. Tuesday as a fugitive from the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

--Kaedyn Johnson, 17, Honey Lane, Morgan City, was arrested at 9:17 p.m. Tuesday on charges of failure to signal, no driver’s license and possession of tobacco products by a person under 21. (Released on summons.)

--Heather Spencer, 44, La. 182, Morgan City, was arrested at 3:28 p.m. Monday on two counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6TH Ward Morgan City Court).

--Courtnie Chenevert, 43, Onstead Street, Morgan City, was arrested at 5:03 p.m. Monday on a charge of theft (under $1,000) and three counts of failure to appear to pay fine (6th Ward Morgan City Court).

St. Mary

Sheriff Gary Driskell reported these arrests:

--Cedric Dwayne Sapp, 31, Morgan City, was arrested at 11:48 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging domestic abuse (child endangerment law) and criminal trespass. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Todd Wayne Romero, 51, Delcambre, was arrested at 6:18 a.m. Tuesday on a warrant alleging failure to appear on charges of speeding and operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked, or canceled. Romero was released on a $1,000 bond.

--Zedrick Zamal Gibson, 35, Franklin, was arrested at 3:15 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of simple robbery, simple escape and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling. Bail has not been set at this time.

--Erica Natasha Darby, 39, New Orleans, was arrested at 7:19 p.m. Tuesday on two warrants alleging failure to appear on charges of possession of tapentadol; operating a vehicle without proper required equipment; operating a vehicle while license is suspended, revoked or canceled; operating a vehicle not covered by security; failure to display license plate, possession of marijuana; possession of methamphetamine; and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bail has not been set at this time.

--Klabert Guillot Jr., 25, Cutoff, was arrested by the Narcotics Section at 10:12 p.m. Monday on a warrant alleging parole violation. Guillot is being held for another agency.

Assumption

Sheriff Leland Falcon reported this arrest:

--Chet Paul Landry, 48, Comeaux Street, Pierre Part, was arrested Monday on a charge of cruelty to the infirm.

Deputies were dispatched to a Comeaux Street address after receiving complaint’s indicating that an individual now identified as Landry was displaying signs of violent tendencies, including causing intentional damages to the interior of the home, which is owned and occupied by a relative.

Deputies responded to complaints similar in nature Saturday and Sunday.

At the conclusion of the investigation, deputies secured an arrest warrant for Landry.

He was arrested Monday and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center
with a bond set at $100,000.
